Note: When choosing a location, take into consideration ease of access, view of operating controls and gages, and exposure to spray from cleanup/wash downs. 1 VACUUM SYSTEM: The vacuum tank is designed and intended to be used exclusively for vacuum service. Do not pressurize the tank. 1.1 Bolt the vacuum tank into the floor securely Place the vacuum tank as close as is practical to where the bung dropper will be used. Take into account the location of drains, ease of access, etc. 1.2 Wire the motor Follow the directions located on the side of the motor (high or low voltage, as your situation requires) Make sure that the pump rotates in the direction indicated by the arrow. Note: Incorrect rotation will ruin the vacuum pump. 1.3 Fill the oiler Add 1 pint of SAE 10 high detergent oil (200 SUS at 100 F/46ISOat40 C). 2 SANITIZER: 2.1 Mount the sanitizer directly in front of the operator as shown in the system overview and installation diagram. 2.2 Attach a drain hose to the outlet on the bottom of the sanitizer The inside diameter of the drain hose should be as large as is practical for optimal drainage. 2.3 Attach an air line connection to the foot valve The required compressed air supply is 5 ft 3 /min at 50 psi (2.4 L/sec at 3.4 bar). 2.4 Attach a minimum 180 F(82 C), 40 psi (2.8 bar), 10 gal/ min (37.9 L/min) water supply to the air piloted sanitizer valve The water supply requires a 1/2 inch - 14 NPT connection to the sanitizer valve.
12 installation and operation instructions page 12 of 16 3 BUNG DROPPER: 3.1 Suspend the bung dropper from the balancer as shown in the installation diagram. 3.2 Make all the necessary air, water and vacuum connections The required compressed air supply is 38 ft 3 /min at 100 psi (1.08 m 3 /min at 6.8 bar) An air filter/regulator/lubricator must be installed in the air supply line. Jarvis part number is available. Keep the lubricator filled at all times. 3.3 For beef bung dropper models with water, attach a water hose to the cold water inlet connector (item 21, Figure A, page 4). 4 BLADE SHARPENER: 4.1 Place the blade sharpener in a convenient maintenance area. 4.2 Plug the 120V/60Hz (USA) model into a standard 120V wall outlet. For models used outside the USA, plug the 230V/50Hz models into a standard 230V wall outlet. Note: All wall outlets must be grounded. OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS Refer to Figures A and B on pages 4 and 5 for referenced items unless otherwise noted. 1 Each day, before you begin operation, go through the following checklist: 1.1 Make sure that the vacuum system is operating properly and that there is vacuum at the bung dropper. The vacuum gage should register inches of mercury. 1.2 Make sure that the vacuum oiler is filled with the proper lubricant. (SAE 10 high detergent oil). 1.3 Make sure that the 180 F(82 C) water supply to the sanitizer is adequate and that the sanitizer functions properly. Before activating the sanitizer, fully insert the bung dropper into the sanitizer housing to prevent splashing of hot water. 1.4 Make sure that the compressed air supply is at the proper pressure and that the lubricator oil is up to the full mark. (Use Jarvis Air Mist Lubricator Oil; if using a conventional air mist lubricator: set the feed rate at 8-10 drops per minute; if using a micro fog air mist lubricator*: set the feed rate at 100 drops per minute). *Almost all air mist lubricators are micro fog air mist lubricators. 1.5 Make sure that the bung dropper moves freely on the balancer. 1.6 For bung dropper models with water, make sure that the cold water supply to the inlet connector (item 21) is turned on. 1 MAKING THE CUT: 1.1 Insert the pilot pin (item 4) into the colon of the carcass until the blade contacts the carcass. 1.2 Squeeze the trigger slowly to form a vacuum. 1.3 Depress the trigger fully to start the air motor and make the cut. Note: Always use two hands when making the cut. 1.4 When the desired depth of cut is achieved, release the trigger. This will stop the blade rotation and relieve the vacuum created in the blade. Note: Continue holding the tool with two hands until the blade comes to a complete stop. 1.5 Withdraw the blade with a steady, even pull. 2 SANITIZATION: 2.1 After each cut, place the blade (item 5) of the bung dropper into the hole in the top of the sanitizer cover (item 24, Figure D, page 7). 2.2 Push the bung dropper down until the pilot pin (item 4) is seated in the stopper block (item 22, Figure D, page 7) at the bottom of sanitizer. 2.3 Step on the foot valve to turn on the 180 F(82 C) water. 2.4 Squeeze the trigger (item 16) to rotate the blade for a moment and release. The cleaning water will be sucked through the vacuum hose. 2.5 Remove foot from the foot valve to turn off the 180 F(82 C) water. Note: Do not remove bung dropper from sanitizer until 180 F(82 C) water is turned off and stops flowing. 2.6 For bung dropper models with water, depress the cold water lever (item 2). 2.7 Remove the bung dropper from the sanitizer and visually inspect the blade to insure that complete sanitization has been achieved. Repeat sanitization steps and procedures if necessary.
