B. 3 ea. 3/8" OD x 8' long vinyl chemical supply tubing w/ cap adapter C. 1 ea. 3/4" OD x 6 long vinyl bucket fill diluted chemical discharge tubing D. 2 ea. 3/4" OD x 4" long vinyl bottle fill diluted chemical discharge outer tubing E. 2 ea. 5/16" OD x 7" long vinyl bottle fill diluted chemical discharge inner tubing F. 2 ea. mounting screws and anchors for wall mounting G. 1 ea. metering tip kit H. 1 ea. 40 psi pressure regulator I. 6 inlet water hose J. 1 ea. male quick-connect K. Chemical description labels L. 1 ea. pressure indicating tee M. 1 ea. tubing hanger 2) TOOLS ANDACCESSORIES RECOMMENDED FOR INSTALLATION (not provided): A) Large crescent wrench, pliers or channel locks B) Roll of teflon tape C) Razor blade cutter or sharp knife D) Small phillips screwdriver E) 3/8" hex key for switching water inlet from the right to left hand side F) Mounting Bracket must be used to attach unit to Chemtrol Storage Rack. Units mounted to walls or Space Saver Rack do not need bracket. 3) INSTALLATION (See Figure 1): Note: All installations must conform with local plumbing codes and use approved backflow preventers. A) Cleaning Station and Water Supply Connection to Space Saver Rack Unit: The water inlet is equipped with a female garden hose fitting (with strainer washer) for attaching the Water Hose; wrap teflon tape around the male hose threads to prevent leaks. The fitting may be removed to permit direct connection to 3/8" NPT pipe. (Note: A #S3B line strainer is recommended at the water inlet side of the unit when a direct connection is made). The unit is designed so that water can be provided to either side of the unit by removing the plug from the left side of unit and exchanging it with the strainer washer and swivel adapter (crescent & 3/8" hex key needed). Reinstall the plug in the other side of the unit. Note: Two units may be connected together when wall mounted (See Figure 4). If using wall panel, hold wall panel in the desired mounting position and locate the mounting hole positions. Install the mounting screws and anchors starting with the upper most mounting hole. A pressure indicating tee is provided to remind user when water supply is left on after using unit. Screw female threads of tee to faucet and female end of water supply hose to male threads of tee. Pressure indicating tee can be removed from faucet using a quick-disconnect, and replaced with supplied male threaded quick-disconnect, to use faucet for other purposes. 2 B) Chemical Concentrate Feed Connection: WARNING: Use care when handling chemicals. #U16242 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Place the 3 liter chemical containers in the wall mounted locking wire rack and remove the cap. Replace with an enclosed cap. Cut the attached vinyl tubing to a convenient length that will allow it to extend from the barb on the cap to the proportioner inlet. If using wall panel, snake the tubing through the recessed holes and over the proportioner barbs. C) Chemical Adjustment: The chemical feed rates are adjusted by using color coded metering tips. Select the proper metering tip for each product using page 3 or 4 as a guide. Thread the appropriate tip into the chemical inlet of the proportioner. D) Diluted Chemial Discharge Tubing Connection: 1 GPM Bottle Fill Proportioners (blue button): Attach the two pieces of 5/16" OD tubing to each of the proportioner inner outlet barbs and attach the two short pieces of 3/4" OD discharge tubes to each of the outer outlet barbs. 4 GPM Bucket Fill Proportioner (red button): Attach the long piece of 3/4" OD tubing to the proportioner outlet barb. E) Replace Cover and Tighten Retainer Screws. 4) OPERATION: The Cleaning Station is now set to mix and dispense a chemical and water solution. Depressing a push button opens a valve allowing water to flow through the proportioner beneath it, and the mixture into the discharge tube. The buttons are spring loaded to prevent accidental overflow if unattended, but may be converted to locking buttons by cutting off the tab at the notch (See Figure 2). Pushing the button and turning it 1/4 turn clockwise at the end of its travel allow the valve to lock on. This makes it unnecessary for the attendant to hold the button in while filling large containers. Turning the button in a counter clockwise direction will release it, allowing the valve to shut off. Affix color coded Chemtrol Labels to Cleaning Stations. Fill matching trigger bottles directly from short discharge tubing and mop bucket from long tubing. 5) SERVICING: CAUTION: Turn off water supply before servicing. A) Proportioner fails to draw chemical: 1) Insufficient water supply pressure. 20 PSI is the minimum allowable. 2) Inspect foot valve for dried chemical or dirt. Soak in hot water to clean. 3) The metering tip is clogged. Soak in hot water to clean. 4) Proportioner inlet clogged with dried chemical. The proportioner must be removed and soaked in hot water. 5) Strainer washer clogged with debris at water inlet. Remove and soak in hot water. 6) Proportioner outlet tubing cut too short for priming. Pinch outlet tube to create back pressure, which will cause unit to prime. The foot valve will keep the inlet tube primed thereafter. 3 B) Valve Malfunction (See Figure 3): INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 1) Remove Cover. To inspect internal parts, unscrew magnet housing and carefully pull off the enclosing tube so as not to drop the plunger, kick-off spring, and spacer. 2) If valve fails to close, check for dirt on seating surface of diaphragm or damaged seat in the body. Inspect the diaphragm making sure the two small pin holes in the diaphragm convolution are clear. Make sure the plunger moves freely in the enclosing tube and that the kick off spring and spacer are installed correctly. 3) If valve fails to open make sure the magnet in the magnet housing is in place and that the plunger moves freely in the enclosing tube and that the kick off spring and spacer are installed correctly. C) Air Gap Servicing: 1) If air gap proportioner does not draw chemical: a) Is correct tubing attached? The 1 GPM proportioner must have the skinny 7 piece. b) Is the nozzle on the top of the air gap in correctly? The bottom of the nozzle is flat. This is the part you can see as you look up through the air gap window. c) Is the stream of water tight (0 ) as it crosses the air gap? If not, you may have hard water scale build-up on the bottom of the nozzle. SOAK THE NOZZLE IN PHOSPHORIC ACID, LIME SCALE REMOVER OR REPLACE NOZZLE. d) Does the priming pin on the outlet of the 4 GPM air gap have excessive hard water scale and chemical residue buildup on it? CLEAN WITH THE BLADE OF A KNIFE OR SOAK IN LIME SCALE REMOVER. 2) If air gap proportioner is leaking out of vents, is the correct tubing attached? The 4 GPM outlet tubing has a 9/16 ID. It is imperative that this diameter be used, not ½ ID. 3) If the chemical drops back into the concentrate container after use: Replace the concentrate bottle cap with one that includes a new check valve. CAUTION: WHEN SERVICING UNIT BE SURE THAT REPLACEMENT PARTS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED ACCORDING TO DRAWING. I-699 Pg. 3 of 8
