Retain these instructions for future reference. Intended Use: This Meguiar s Professional Metering System is intended to meter and mix automotive, water-based cleaning chemicals from concentrate. It is expected that all users be fully trained in the safe operation of this product, as well as with the use of the chemicals. Use in any other application or by other users has not been evaluated by Meguiar s and may lead to an unsafe condition. CAUTION: To reduce the risks associated with product failure/bursting due to excessive water pressure, excessive water temperature, or other mechanical damage: Water supply must not exceed 125psi (8.6 Bar), and water temperature must not exceed 150 o F (66 o C). Do not use Teflon tape to seal internal plastic threads as the extra thickness of the tape may cause the plastic to crack. Use a non-welding liquid sealant instead, and DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN. WARNING: To reduce the toxic, environmental, or fire risks associated with use of cleaning chemicals: USE CARE WHEN HANDLING HAZARDOUS CHEMICALS. Always adhere strictly to the chemical manufacturer s health and safety information found on the product label and in their MSDS, and carefully follow all directions for use. Pressure indicating tee is to be installed with existing faucets according to local plumbing codes in the state of Wisconsin and any other state that requires the use of a pressure indicating tee. WARNING: Water supply should not exceed 125 psi and water temperature must not exceed 150 F. A. Mounting and water supply: Remove the two cover retainer screws and the cover from the Meguiar s Professional Metering System assembly. Mount the unit(s) in position on the wall and locate the position for the mounting screws. Drill all of the holes into the drywall using a ¼ diameter bit for use with the included #10 screw and anchor set. (If mounting the Meguiar s Professional Metering System to wood and you do not plan to use the included anchors, drill 1/8 diameter holes.) Insert the anchors into drilled holes and hammer them into the wall until they are flush with face of wall. Assemble all of the #10 screws with a Phillips screwdriver into the anchors so the screw heads are sticking out of the wall approximately 1/8. Mount the Professional Metering System by inserting the screw heads through the keyhole slots in the base and tighten the screws. Replace the cover and screws. The water inlet is equipped with a female garden hose fitting (with strainer washer) for attaching a water supply hose. The fitting may be removed to permit direct connection to a 3/8" NPT pipe. The unit is designed so water can be supplied to either side by interchanging the pipe plug and female hose fitting. Note: Apply pipe dope, hand tighten, then turn 1-½ times with a wrench. Do not over tighten. WARNING: Do not use Teflon tape to seal internal plastic threads as the extra thickness of the tape may cause the plastic to crack. Use a non-welding liquid sealant instead. B. Chemical Supply: Place the chemical container in a convenient location not more than 6 feet below the Meguiar s Professional Meter (greater lifts will reduce injection capacities). Insert the vinyl supply tubing with the foot valve end into the chemical container. Cut the vinyl tube to any convenient length that will allow it to extend from the bottom of the chemical container to the proportioner inlet barb. (See figure 1). Adhesive labels are provided for product labeling. including product name, dilution and application C. Chemical injection adjustment: The chemical feed rate is controlled by a metering tip screwed into the eductor inlet barb. 3 TIP RECOMMENDATIONS Note: All tip recommendations are based on a water pressure of 40 psi. Water pressure between 20psi and 80 psi will have little effect on ratio accuracy. Depressing the push button opens the valve, allowing water to flow through the chemical proportioner that mixes chemical at the desired rate. The button is spring loaded to prevent accidental overflow if unattended, but may be converted to a locking button by cutting off the tab at the notch. (See Figure 2). Pushing the button and turning it 1/4 turn clockwise at the end of its travel allows the valve to lock on. This makes it unnecessary for the attendant to hold the button in while filling large containers. Turning the button in a counter clockwise direction will release it, allowing the valve to shut off. WARNING: To reduce the toxic or environmental risks associated with use of cleaning chemicals: -If this modification has been made, the operator will need to pay close attention to ensure that over-flow does not occur. -Should over-flow occur, clean-up according to the instructions found in the chemical manufacturer s health and safety information found on the product label and in their MSDS 4. SERVICING: CAUTION: TURN OFF WATER SUPPLY BEFORE SERVICING. A. Eductor fails to draw chemical: 1. Pinch outlet tube to create back pressure, which will cause unit to prime. The foot valve will keep the inlet tube primed thereafter. 2. Insufficient water supply pressure. 20 PSI is the minimum allowable. B. Eductor stops drawing chemical: 1. Inspect foot valve for dried chemical or dirt. Soak in hot water to clean. 2. Eductor metering tip clogged with dried chemical. Remove tip and try injecting in hot water. If there is no suction, remove eductor and soak in hot water to clear interior passages. 3. Inspect eductor to ensure that there are no mineral deposit build-ups on the nozzle. If so, soak eductor body in deliming solution. (Remove all parts attached to eductor before soaking in deliming solution.) Note: Follow safety precautions recommended by deliming solution manufacturer. C. Valve Malfunction: Check that the button moves freely in & out and that a "click" can be heard when the button is pushed and released, indicating that the magnet is activating the plunger properly. Remove cover. To inspect internal parts, unscrew magnet housing and carefully pull off the enclosing tube so as not to drop the plunger, kick-off spring, and spacer. Check for dirt or damage impeding plunger and kick-off spring movement. Inspect the diaphragm, making sure the two small pinholes (bleed hole) in the diaphragm convolution are clear to allow the valve to close. CAUTION: When servicing unit, be sure that replacement parts have been installed according to drawing. 11/02/10 Page 3 of 5

4 CAUTION: When dispensing Hyper Dressing and Last Touch Spray Detailer using 4 gpm eductor, do not dispense into secondary spray bottle. This is for use when filling wide mouth secondary containers. However, many factors beyond Meguiar s control can affect the use and performance of a Meguiar s product in a particular application, including the conditions under which the Meguiar s product is used and the time and environmental conditions in which the product is expected to perform. Since these factors are uniquely within the user s knowledge and control, it is essential that the user evaluate the Meguiar s product to determine whether it is fit for a particular purpose and suitable for the user s method of application. Warranty and Limited Remedy: Meguiar s warrants this device against defects in workmanship and materials under normal operating conditions for one year from the date of purchase. This limited warranty does not apply to any products which have a normal life shorter than one year or failure and damage caused by chemicals, corrosion, improper water pressure, physical abuse, or misapplication. Rubber and synthetic rubber parts such as o - rings, diaphragms, squeeze tubing and gaskets are considered expendable and are not covered under warranty. This warranty is extended only to the original buyer of Meguiar s products. If products are altered or repaired without prior approval of Meguiar s Inc., this warranty will be void. MEGUIAR S MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY ARISING OUT OF A COURSE OF DEALING, CUSTOM OR USAGE OF TRADE. User is responsible for determining whether the Meguiar s tool is fit for a particular purpose and suitable for user s application. User must operate the device in accordance with all applicable operating instructions, safety precautions, and other procedures stated in the operating manual to be entitled to warranty coverage. Meguiar s shall have no obligation to repair or replace any tool or part that fails due to normal wear, inadequate or improper maintenance, inadequate cleaning, improper operating environment, improper utilities, operator error or misuse, alteration or modification, mishandling, lack of reasonable care, or due to any accidental cause. If a device or any part thereof is defective within this warranty period, your exclusive remedy and Meguiar s sole obligation will be, at Meguiar s option, to repair or replace the device or refund the purchase price.
