The Deluxe Pre-Assembled Bdy Package prgram prvides the specialty autmtive enthusiast with a quality prduct, in a cmplete and cmprehensive package. This alternative affrds a savings ver the Rller r Turn Key versins by allwing yu, the custmer, t supply a prtin f the labr relating t the final assembly prcedure, yet des nt demand an inrdinate amunt f specialized skills r prfessinal assistance such as painting, wiring, and uphlstery. This package includes ALL f the fllwing: The cmplete hand-laid fiberglass bdy, painted with Sikkens base cat/ clear cat t autmtive standards. The drs, frnt hd with supprt rd, and rear deck lid with supprt rd are hinged, latched, weather stripped and fully adjusted. The bdy cmes pre-munted t a 3 tubular steel frame that is an integral part f the bdy/chassis system. It includes a fully adjustable frnt axle beam with trsin bars installed and rear suspensin cmpnents cmplete t the spring plate assemblies. Tubular steel is an extremely strng methd f cnstructin and gives the Beck Speedster excellent trsinal rigidity resulting in crisp handling, cnsistent dr gap, and superir fit and finish. It is a lgical and preferable cnstructin methd t belly pan munted kits. The self-parking, 2-speed windshield wiper system is cmpletely installed and wired. All f the wiring fr majr cmpnents is cmpletely installed. This includes the 3-gauge cluster, all switches, relays, engine harness, lighting and a cmplete fuse panel. The steering clumn with turn signal, emergency flasher and wiper switch is installed. The cnvertible tp with steel scissr frame is cmpletely assembled, installed, and peratinal. Matching 5mm Lexan side curtains are als included. Full leather interir is cmplete including dr panels with full-length map pckets, adjustable bucket seats, dash, leather wrapped steering wheel, shifter and emergency brake bts. The Deluxe Rller Package cmes rlling t yur dr, ready t install yur engine.. This package is ideal fr smene wh has a very specific engine supplier r desire t install a unique type f pwer train (i.e. battery perated) int ur Beck Speedster. This package includes ALL f the features f the Deluxe Pre-assembled Bdy Package, plus the fllwing items: All 3 ptinal kit cmpletin packages A 4-Speed manual transaxle f yur chice. (All transaxles are the swing axle style but may be mdified with high perfrmance parts, a variety f gear sets, and upgraded frm drum t disc brakes fr an additinal charge.) The brake system is cmplete and peratinal, as is the emergency brake system. Fine tuning f the alignment may still be required. The steering cmpnents are cmpletely installed and peratinal. Head & taillights, turn signals and license plate lights are installed with cmpleted wiring. The engine harness is in place and ready t be attached t the mtr. A set f 5 tires are munted and balanced. The end user can assemble this stage in as little as ne shrt weekend. 2) The "rller" package, which is ready t accept the engine f yur chice 3) The "turn-key" package. Althugh Special Editin, Inc. DOES NOT directly supply engines r transaxles, it is still pssible fr the custmer t receive a ready t drive speedster Q: What type f engine can I use? A: The Beck Speedster is set up fr a VW air-cled type I engine f nearly any displacement. Our custmers have als used engines such as the VW type IV (Prsche 914), Prsche 356, Prsche 912, VW waterbxer, and the Subaru EJ series f engines. Q: What are the mst ppular engines? What is the biggest engine I can use? A1: While the water-cled engines are beginning t becme mre ppular, the "super 90" 1915cc VW type I engine remains the mst ppular. This engine replicates bth the lk and perfrmance f the riginal Speedsters. A2: The engine size/hp is limited nly by budget and sanity. When selecting an engine, ne must remember a few things: 1) the mst pwerful Speedsters f the 50's (the Carrera) nly had abut 130hp and 2) the Speedster has the aerdynamic qualities f a classic 50's racecar. Q: I have seen ther cmpanies that ffer a tubular frame vs. the VW bellypan. Hw is yurs different? A: The Beck Speedster is the nly speedster replica that uses.120 sidewall 3" DOM rund tubular steel. There are several reasns why it is imprtant that we use DOM rund tubing rather than square tubing, r anything that is aswelded. DOM tubing has a higher yield and tensile strength than aswelded steel. It is als smther, cleaner, denser and mre cnsistent. Rund tubing is lighter than square tubing, yet has greater strength characteristics. Rund tubing is mre expensive than square tubing. Rund tubing is available in higher-grade steel than square tubing. Q: Hw d I insure my Beck Speedster? A: If yur current carrier des nt have the ability t ensure yur new vehicle, several cmpanies specialize in insuring replicas.
