This means that all the components are conductively interconnected. And if your EMC requirement is more stringent, there are cases with integral finger strips to provide full contact. This raises the question of their use in environments where shock and vibration can occur Due to their one-piece aluminium section construction for the side walls, VEcase cases are particularly stable. The test certificate shown here shows how they react to a shock and vibration test. 4 VEcase : Overview of the range With its system components the VEcase 700 case series offers hitherto unknown versatility in modular caseframes. The concept The cases are constructed completely in metal and thus form an extremely stable platform for the widest possibly variety of electronic plug-in modules. Using the modular concept, the cases can be used for test and measurement instruments, as well as for high-performance micro-computers such as VME 64x and CompactPCI. 5 VEcase 700 The VEcase 700 case series is designed to accept plug-in units and cassettes either horizontally or vertically. The horizontal design provides space for 6U modules in cases 4 and 5U high. The useful aperture width, depending on the height of the case, is either 28 or 36HP. Ventilation is through lateral vents. For high outputs, forced ventilation is recommended by means of fans mounted on the rear panel. Front section with logic VEcase 5U/84HP Front rails with IEC short lip, or long front lip to meet IEEE requirements. Rails are provided with a positioning print, and accept tapped strips, pre-location strips, Guides, EMC contact strips and coding blocks. Feet with logic Two heights of foot can be attached. Available for use in 19 racks. With a hollowed-out recess to allow individual logos to be applied. An integral anti-slip device ensures that the case stands securely. Contact with logic EMC shielding without compromise. Base and top sections contact with the side section along the entire length with a conductive seal. High basic shielding of connectors based on labyrinth design. Front and rear panels in accordance with IEEE geometry. Corner points with logic A central node point is formed by the corner connector. Three different front connectors can be inserted. They can be used as front panel, front panel with handle, or front panel with handle and 19 rack mounting angle. If you have a particularly stringent EMC shielding requirement, all versions can be supplied with EMC seals fitted. Depending on requirements heat can be extracted vertically through vents in the upper and lower covers, or can be rectangular through vents in the lower cover and rear wall. 2U PCBs (55.5 mm) can be inserted vertically. If a support system or screw fastenings are necessary when mounting 6U motherboards at the centre, a set of motherboard mounting extrusion can be placed at the centre. These consist of a type 1 double extrusion, with tapped strips and insulating strip. If the case is intended for rear plug-in use and the rear 80mm deep plug-in modules are guided on Guides, you need to order vertical carrier rails. The carrier rails are supplied loose.
