7 MAYFAST 2012 Join the Cimarron Region PCA on May 5-6 for Mayfast 2012, our annual Spring Driver Education event at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit. This 1.8-mile track is great for Novice and Experienced alike. We will be running counterclockwise, and will have a driving school for first time drivers. We will also have a Taste of the Track offer for those that are track curious. Hallett offers Garages and Carports as well as RV hook up, please contact the track for reservations. FEBRUARY 2011 Time and Weather permitting, we are including charity parade laps at lunchtime for Mother s Against Drunk Driving. These parade laps are open to any car, and helmets are not required. A pace car will lead the laps at a very slow speed. You can bring the family, and let them see what the track looks like from your view! We will line up for these parade laps at lunchtime on Saturday and Sunday. Your donations to M.A.D.D. will be greatly appreciated! 8 Autocross Update 2012 CIMARRON REGION AUTOCROSS SCHEDULE The autocross site remains at the Corporate Woods Center located at 4500 South 129 th E. Ave. Tulsa, OK. We get started at 8:30 am for course set up, walkthrough, driver s meeting, etc. FEBRUARY 2011 This event is for PCA members in good standing. Eligible children of PCA members 16 years or older can also participate. All drivers must have a valid drivers license. The cost to participate will be $10.00 per driver. If you have never driven at an autocross your first event will be free. You can drive a non-porsche vehicle in the autocross but you will not be scored for the year- end awards. Scheduled days marked with an *asterisk will count towards the Championship. For 2012 there will be ten days scheduled. A driver can miss up to 2 of the scheduled autocross days without it affecting their chances of winning the CR Championship. Participation T-Shirts will be awarded to all drivers who have driven in at least 5 scheduled autocross days. The non-asterisk days are reserved for training, practice and/or make-up days due to bad weather. 8

10 Jackie Cooper Porsche Hosts New 991 Launch Party On February 9th, Jackie Cooper Porsche marked the official launch of the new 991 in Tulsa. The event was open to guests, including Cimarron Region PCA members. The new car was well received with many comments noting that Porsche has once again achieved the continuation of the 911 legacy with a new car. FEBRUARY 2011 Here s a few photos of the launch festivities. At left, Bill Jacobi and John Blocha enjoy a glass of vin rouge while admiring the new 991. Scott Bever, Bob Miller, Pat and Ted Kennedy view Porsche s latest offering in the 911 lineup. John and Erin McDermott attended, no doubt comparing the lines of the 991 to John s 911 hotrod. 10

13 Motorsport Report Porsche Wins at Daytona Porsche victories are not guaranteed these days, unlike in years past when the all-conquering 935s and 956/962 cars held pre-eminence in sports car racing. The significant event of this year s Rolex 24 at Daytona was that a truly privateer team won the GT class. There are no factory teams in Grand-Am, but like the rich, some are more equal than others. Magnus is not rich. FEBRUARY 2011 Porsche represented the majority of GT entries, as it usually does for the 24, but this year there were some interesting additions to the grid: Ferrari was represented by the 458 Italia, and even Audi, yes, the corporate brother Audi, brought two R8s. Porsche was represented by the powerhouse teams of Brumos and TRG, along with many other small, Rolex 24-only entries. Not withstanding that there were no Porsche-powered entries (for the first time since the inception of the class) in the premier category of Grand-Am, the Daytona prototypes, GT clearly held the interests of railbirds. And they did not disappoint. As typical for this classic of road racing events, it came down to not to who was fastest, but who could stay out of trouble and be there at the end. And in the end it was Magnus Racing, a small operation led by driver John Potter who bested all of the hype, all of the pre-race favorites to come out on top. Granted, Potter was supported by an excellent lineup of drivers, Andy Lally being the best of them, but it was the steady pace and trouble avoidance that did the job. Supported by Porsche factory driver Richard Lietz and last year s SuperCup champion Rene Rast, Potter s team did not lack for talent. What befell Brumos (broken splitter) and TRG (clutch problems in the lead car) did not affect Magnus, and they now have their greatest victory in team history in the bag. Potter and Lally will compete the rest of the season together and are hoping to snag the North American Endurance Championship together. 13
