3 WORKING ALONG THE WATERFRONT The screeching of gulls is drowned out by the sounds of an EMD SW1 and its train clattering across the bridges over the ship channel. A dash of yellow and green graces the top of the Pratt deck-truss bridge as the rest of the train rolls across the through-truss bridge over the main channel, placed to leave more room for taller marine vessels to pass underneath.
