Built by Erie Railroad at the Meadville Shops in 1958 from one-piece cast nickle steel underframe, it carried loads making the best use of the car s 24 above rail deck height. Built in 1944 at the Michigan City plant as part of series , it ran on Bettendorf trucks SERIES S CAR #4 WWII Nose Art Kentucky Belle Road Number This 50 fl at car is painted Olive Drab with white lettering and carries a 40 Navy Grey container featuring real WWII nose art know as Kentucky Belle. Like many planes in WWII, this bomber was decorated with custom artwork by its pilot to personalize the plane. The Kentucky Belle was part of the 8th Air Force, the 446th Bomb Group, and the 706th Squadron. 2 Trailer Train Road Numbers TTX / These 89 tri-level closed auto racks are painted yellow and have the black and white TTX logo, black lettering and run on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. The fi rst auto racks had exposed sides that led to vehicle damage from vandalism and weather. In the early 1970 s the railroads started to enclose them with steel mesh. This series will consist of six colorful billboard reefers and one tank car, all displaying elaborate ads for Baby Ruth which was owned then by Curtiss Candy Company.
