4 The introduction of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles to the New Zealand market has boosted the registrations of electric vehicles significantly. They now make up.15% to.2% of light vehicle registrations..25% Electric vehicle share of monthly light vehicle registrations.2%.15%.1%.5%.% 21/1 211/1 212/1 213/1 214/1 215/1 Plug-in hybrid New electric Used electric The imports of used conventional hybrid vehicles continue to increase, as more of them are available in the Japanese used market now. Used hybrid registrations have now overtaken new hybrids. Hybrid registrations are just over 2 a year but only growing slowly. 25 Conventional hybrid rolling 12 month registrations /12 211/12 212/12 213/12 214/12 New hybrid Used hybrid All hybrids Electric vehicle sales increased significantly in early 214 following the introduction of the Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid. The Outlander and the Nissan Leaf have made up most of the registrations. Audi and BMW models are the next biggest sellers. The rolling twelve month graph below shows electric light vehicle registrations were 378 for the year to May 215. 5 The light electric fleet has now reached 66 vehicles. Forty five of these vehicles were manufactured in 25 or before. Some of those vehicles are conventional vehicles converted to electric, but some may be not be electric at all (wrongly recorded on the vehicle register).
