13 CONTRACTS IN THE UK GLASGOW SUBWAY Customer: Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) Type of vehicle: 4-car driverless metro cars Number of vehicles: 17 Operation: Glasgow Subway Year of delivery: Project description: The Glasgow Subway is the third-oldest metro system in the world and commenced operations as early as Stadler provides a new vehicle fleet of 17 state-of-the-art metro vehicles, as part of the replacement of the entire system. The tunnels date back to the Victorian era and demand a compact vehicle design. Thanks to newly developed bogies featuring air suspension, the new fully automated and driverless metro vehicles provide a high level of ride comfort. With the new vehicles from Stadler, Glasgow has one of the most cutting-edge metro systems. 13
