NOTE: Airplanes thru must accomplish SB Navigation - CD-820 Flight Management System Control Display Unit Installation and SB R1 Navigation - Honeywell Primus 2000 Phase 6A With FMS Software NZ 6.0 prior to or in conjunction with. NOTE: Airplanes thru must accomplish SB Navigation - Honeywell Primus 2000 Phase 7WithFMSSoftwareNZ6.0prior to or in conjunction with. NOTE: In order to turn on the weather graphics a subscription to either Honeywell's Global Data Center (GDC) or ARINC Direct will be required. Subscriptions to Honeywell's GDC can be obtained at Subscriptions to ARINC Direct can be obtained at business_aviation_services/index.html. REASON To upgrade the current AFIS DMU to a weather graphics capable AFIS DMU. DESCRIPTION This service bulletin provides parts and instructions to install an upgraded AFIS DMU that allows weather graphics to be displayed on the CD-820 CDU. COMPLIANCE OPTIONAL. 2 A service bulletin published by Cessna Aircraft Company may be recorded as completed in an aircraft log only when the following requirements are satisfied: 1) The mechanic must complete all of the instructions in the service bulletin, including the intent therein. 2) The mechanic must correctly use and install all applicable parts supplied with the service bulletin kit. Only with written authorization from Cessna Aircraft Company can substitute parts or rebuilt parts be used to replace new parts. 3) The mechanic or airplane owner must use the technical data in the service bulletin only as approved and published. 4) The mechanic or airplane owner must apply the information in the service bulletin only to aircraft serial numbers identified in the Effectivity section of the bulletin. 5) The mechanic or airplane owner must use maintenance practices that are identified as acceptable standard practices in the aviation industry and governmental regulations. No individual or corporate organization other than Cessna Aircraft Company is authorized to make or apply any changes to a Cessna-issued service bulletin, service letter, or flight manual supplement without prior written consent from Cessna Aircraft Company. Cessna Aircraft Company is not responsible for the quality of maintenance performed to comply with this document, unless the maintenance is accomplished at a Cessna-owned Citation Service Center. FLIGHT CREW OPERATIONS Refer to the attached Flight Crew Operations Summary. APPROVAL Cessna received FAA approval for the technical data in this publication that changes the airplane type design. This information is an amendment to the applicable maintenance manual. AFIS Programming Cable Locally Fabricated NOTE: Figure 2 shows how the AFIS Programming Cable is assembled. Used to connect the laptop computer to the AFIS DMU. CHANGE IN WEIGHT AND BALANCE Negligible REFERENCES Cessna Model 750 Maintenance Manual Honeywell FMZ 6 Flight Management System Pilot's Operating Manual, Software Version 5.9 & 6.0 PUBLICATIONS AFFECTED Cessna Model 750 Illustrated Parts Catalog ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS 1. Prepare the airplane for maintenance. A. Make sure that all switches are in the OFF/NORM position. B. Disconnect electrical power from the airplane. (1) Disconnect the airplane batteries. (2) Disconnect external electrical power. C. Attach maintenance warning tags to the batteries and external power receptacle that have "DO NOT CONNECT ELECTRICAL POWER - MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS" writtenonthem. 2. (Refer to Figure 1, Detail A.) Remove the AFIS DMU. (Refer to the Model 750 Maintenance Manual, Chapter 23, Global Automatic Flight Information System (AFIS) - Maintenance Practices.) NOTE: The AFIS DMU replaces the AFIS DMU which is used on airplanes that do not have satellite communications (SATCOM). The AFIS DMU replaces the AFIS DMU which is used with airplanes that have SATCOM. A. Remove the aft niche panel. (Refer to the Model 750 Maintenance Manual, Chapter 53, Tailcone Baggage Compartment - Maintenance Practices.) B. (Refer to Figure 1, Detail A.) Release the latch catches on the front of the AFIS DMU. C. Remove the AFIS DMU from the airplane. 3. Return the removed XXXX AFIS DMU to Cessna. NOTE: Contact Cessna Citation to schedule modification at or telefax or to: cpdavionicsteam@cessna.textron.com. This will require advance notification. Citation Repairs will schedule the units and arrange for their return. Allow 5 to 7 days for the modification. This service bulletin may not be signed off as completed unless the units are scheduled through Cessna Citation. Page 3
4 4. (Refer to Figure 1, Detail A.) Install the upgraded AFIS DMU. (Refer to the Model 750 Maintenance Manual, Chapter 23, Global Automatic Flight Information System (AFIS)- Maintenance Practices.) NOTE: The AFIS DMU replaces the AFIS DMU which is used on airplanes that do not have satellite communications (SATCOM). The AFIS DMU replaces the AFIS DMU which is used with airplanes that have SATCOM. A. Check the connectors on the AFIS DMU and the AFIS DMU mounting tray for damaged pins. B. Place the AFIS DMU in the mounting tray with the latching bar down. C. Make sure that the electrical connectors are aligned properly. D. Lift up and push back on the latching bar until the latch catches the latching bar in place. 5. Prepare the airplane for an operational check. A. Remove the maintenance warning tags. B. Connect the aircraft batteries. C. Connect external electrical power. 6. Run Procomm Plus on the laptop computer. 7. Gain access to the Procomm Plus directory. 8. Set the following configuration options. A. Terminal Emulation : TVI 925 B. Parity/Bits/Stop-Bits : N81 C. Baud Rate : Exit the Procomm Plus directory. NOTE: The laptop computer must not be in the Procomm Plus directory when the AFIS system is turned on and initialized. The correct sequence is to turn the AFIS system on and then gain access to the Procomm Plus directory. 10. (Refer to Figure 2.) Connect the AFIS programming cable to the laptop computer port and AFIS DMU computer port. 11. Cycle power on the AFIS DMU. 12. Gain access to the Procomm Plus directory on the laptop computer. 13. On the laptop computer, type "ON" and press enter for the menu. 14. Type "CM" and press enter to display the configuration module menu. 15. Type "CC xx" to view the possible options for each setting. NOTE: "xx" is the two digit setting number from the configuration module menu. NOTE: The following is a list of the AFIS default configuration options. Not all options are available on all airplanes. Type "M" and press enter to return to the main menu. 19. Type "Alt-x" and press enter to exit Procomm Plus. Page 5
6 20. Turn the laptop computer off 21. Turn the AFIS system off. 22. (Refer to Figure 2.) Disconnect the programming cable from the laptop computer port and the AFIS DMU computer port. 23. Do an operational check of the AFIS DMU. (Refer to Honeywell FMZ 6 Flight Management System Pilot's Operating Manual, Software Version 5.9 & 6.0, Section 6-41.) 24. Install the aft niche panel. (Refer to the Model 750 Maintenance Manual, Chapter 53, Tailcone Baggage Compartment - Maintenance Practices.) 25. Record that this service bulletin has been completed. A. Complete a Maintenance Transaction Report. B. Put a copy of the completed Maintenance Transaction Report in the airplane logbook. C. Send a copy of the completed Maintenance Transaction Report to: CESCOM, P.O. 9 ATTACHMENT FLIGHT CREW OPERATIONS SUMMARY This summary provides additional information for the flight crew regarding operational changes as a result of accomplishment of this service bulletin. Please remove this summary from the service bulletin and give it to the flight crew. This summary is informational only and does not supersede any information in the FAA-approved airplane flight manual. Completion of this bulletin and the associated bulletins identified on page 1 will provide all the components necessary to enable the display of uplinked graphical weather on either CDU. Subscription with a graphical weather service provider such as ARINC Direct or Honeywell GDC is also required. Products available for display include NEXRAD, Winds, CATMETs, and Significant Weather (Fronts or Turb/Icing).
