11 TEMPORARY FAA APPROVED AIRPLANE FLIGHT MANUAL CHANGE Publication Affected: Airplane Serial Numbers Affected: Description of Change: Model 560XL Citation XLS+ ( and On) basic FAA Approved Airplane Flight Manual, Revision 1, dated 12 January Airplanes , -6067, -6068, -6072, and On and Airplanes thru -6055, thru -6066, thru -6071, and thru incorporating SB560XL Section III, Operating Procedures, Normal Procedures,, revise Flight Into Icing information. Filing Instructions: Insert this temporary change in the Model 560XL ( and On) basic FAA Approved Airplane Flight Manual adjacent to page Removal Instructions: This temporary change must be removed and discarded when Revision 2 has been collated into the basic FAA Approved Airplane Flight Manual. In Section III, Operating Procedures, Normal Procedures, Flight Into Icing, page 3-151, revise the first paragraph as follows: Flight into known icing is the intentional flight into icing conditions that are known to exist by either visual observation or pilot weather report information. Icing conditions exist any time the indicated RAT is +10 C (+50 F) and below, and visible moisture in any form is present. The first visual cue of icing accretion is normally found at the base of the windshield near the center post. This airplane, with properly operating anti-ice and deice equipment, is approved to operate in maximum intermittent and maximum continuous icing conditions as defined by 14 CFR 25, Appendix C. The equipment has not been designed to provide protection against freezing rain, freezing drizzle, or severe conditions of mixed or clear ice. During all operations, the pilot is expected to exercise good judgement and be prepared to alter the flight plan, i.e. exit icing, if conditions exceed the capability of the aircraft and equipment. 56XFMB TC-R01-16

13 TEMPORARY FAA APPROVED AIRPLANE FLIGHT MANUAL CHANGE Publication Affected: Airplane Serial Numbers Affected: Description of Change: Model 560XL Citation XLS+ ( and On) basic FAA Approved Airplane Flight Manual, Revision 1, dated 12 January Airplanes , -6067, -6068, -6072, and On and Airplanes thru -6055, thru -6066, thru -6071, and thru incorporating SB560XL Section III, Operating Procedures, Normal Procedures, revise Anti-Ice and Deice Systems information. In Section III, Operating Procedures, Normal Procedures, Anti-ice and Deice Systems, page 3-152, revise the second paragraph and note as follows: ANTI-ICE AND DEICE SYSTEMS The anti-ice system consists of bleed air heated engine inlets, wing leading edges, fan spinner and stators, and electrically heated pitot tubes, static ports and angle-of-attack vane. The horizontal stabilizer is deiced by pneumatic boots. Windshield anti-ice is provided by full-time electrical heating. All anti-ice systems should be turned on when operating in visible moisture and the indicated RAT is +10 C (+50 F) or below. NOTE Icing conditions exist when the indicated RAT on the ground and for takeoff is +10 C (+50 F) or below; the indicated RAT inflight is +10 C (+50 F) or below; and visible moisture in any form is present (such as clouds, fog with visibility of one mile or less, rain, snow, sleet or ice crystals). Icing conditions also exist when the indicated RAT on the ground and for takeoff is +10 C (+50 F) or below when operating on ramps, taxiways or runways where snow, ice, standing water, or slush may be ingested by the engines or freeze on engine nacelles or engine sensor probes. Flight crews should monitor the protected areas of the wings to make sure these areas are remaining clear. 56XFMB TC-R01-17

15 TEMPORARY FAA APPROVED AIRPLANE FLIGHT MANUAL CHANGE Publication Affected: Airplane Serial Numbers Affected: Model 560XL Citation XLS+ ( and On) basic FAA Approved Airplane Flight Manual, Revision 1, dated 12 January Airplanes , -6067, -6068, -6072, and On and Airplanes thru -6055, thru -6066, thru -6071, and thru incorporating SB560XL Description of Change: Section III, Operating Procedures, Amber CAS Procedures, revise the RAT HEAT FAIL L-R procedure. Filing Instructions: Insert this temporary change in the Model 560XL ( and On) basic FAA Approved Airplane Flight Manual adjacent to page Removal Instructions: In Section III, Operating Procedures, Amber CAS Procedures, page 3-103, revise the RAT HEAT FAIL L-R procedure as follows: RAT HEAT FAIL L-R Indicates that electrical power to the RAT probe anti-ice heater on the affected side has been lost while engine anti-ice for that side is selected on. This may occur due to a failure of the RAT probe anti-ice heater or if the FADEC detects that ice forming on the probe is causing erroneous temperature indications and could lead to a possible reduction in thrust. 1. FADEC RESET Button (affected side) PUSH IF MESSAGE DOES NOT CLEAR IN FLIGHT WITH ENGINE ANTI-ICE ON 2. Exit icing environment. WHEN CLEAR OF ICING CONTDIONS 3. WING/ENGINE ANTI-ICE Switch (affected side) OFF then WING/ENG or ENGINE ON 4. RAT HEAT FAIL CAS Message MONITOR O IF RAT HEAT FAIL MESSAGE DISPLAYS AGAIN IMMEDIATELY Indicates a possible failure of the RAT probe anti-ice system. 5. Remain clear of icing conditions. PROCEDURE COMPLETED This temporary change must be removed and discarded when Revision 2 has been collated into the basic FAA Approved Airplane Flight Manual. O IF RAT HEAT FAIL MESSAGE DISPLAYS AGAIN (AFTER SECONDS) Indicates an ice buildup on the RAT probe has been detected which could cause erroneous temperature indications. The FADEC has removed power from the RAT probe to avoid a possible reduction in thrust due to the erroneous temperature indications. (Continued Next Page) 56XFMB TC-R01-18

16 TEMPORARY FAA APPROVED AIRPLANE FLIGHT MANUAL CHANGE RAT HEAT FAIL L-R (Continued) 5. WING/ENGINE ANTI-ICE Switch (affected side) OFF then WING/ENG or ENGINE ON 6. RAT HEAT FAIL CAS Message MONITOR (The probe ice detect cycle can take up to 2 minutes to complete.) 7. If the message displays again, cycle the WING/ENGINE ANTI-ICE switch off then back on each time the message appears until the message no longer displays. A descent to warmer conditions may be required to clear ice from the probe. Once the message remains cleared for at least 2 minutes, normal operations may be resumed. NOTE Minor fluctuations in N1 and RAT temperature indication are possible during the probe ice detect cycle. The probe ice detect logic may also be reset or over-ridden by moving the throttle lever(s) to the TO detent. However, if the probe is still blocked with ice when the throttles are moved to the TO detent, a reduction in thrust (as opposed to the expected increase) is possible due to erroneous temperature indications. PROCEDURE COMPLETED O IF RAT HEAT FAIL MESSAGE DOES NOT DISPLAY AGAIN 5. Resume normal operation. PROCEDURE COMPLETED IN FLIGHT WITH ENGINE ANTI-ICE OFF 2. Operate engine normally. PROCEDURE COMPLETED ON GROUND 2. Correct prior to flight. PROCEDURE COMPLETED IF MESSAGE CLEARS PROCEDURE COMPLETED 56XFMB TC-R01-18
