15 PLC UPGRADES PURCHASED PLC AND PROGRAM FROM DCS OPEN PROGRAMMING HUGE PLUS ORIGINALLY PLANNED ON LEAVING SOME SLC500, HAD TIME TO CHANGE OUT,FAR BETTER THAN COMMUNICATING TO THE SLC500 FROM THE CONTROLLOGIX ISSUES WITH SAVING MULTIPLE PROGRAMS FOR MULTIPLE PROCESSORS GOES AWAY, JUST 1 PROGRAM TO BACK UP AND UPDATE. JUST ONE BATTERY TO BE CHANGED USED ETHERNET COMMUNICATIONS, ALL OUR DEVICES NOW ARE ETHERNET EXCEPT FOR THE SIEMENS DRIVES ALL PLC S AND CONTROL ARE SUPPLIED FROM CONSTANT VOLTAGE TRANSFORMERS. CVT S HAVE OPERATED SUCCESSFULLY FOR SEVERAL YEARS ELIMINATING DIPS ETC THAT MAY HAVE DROPPED OUT PLC AND GOT A RE- BOOT, ORIGINAL UPS S DID NOT PROVIDE WHAT WE NEEDED ETHERNET, DIFFERENT SWITCHES FOR DIFFERENT CRITICALLITY LEVELS, ONE SWITCH JUST FOR PLC RACKS, ONE SWITCH FOR OTHER ELECTRICAL, ONE SWITCH FOR IT FUNCTIONS, FIRE WALL SECURITY

40 THE ONLY PROBLEM WE HAD WITH THE SPEED SENSOR WAS TO GET A SMALL ENOUGH RUN-OUT FOR THE SHAFT THAT HELD THE GEAR. ONE MG SET WAS OK, THE OTHER HAD 15 THOU RUN OUT AND GAVE US INTERMITTANT ALARMS. ARMATURE WAS EVENTUALLY CHANGED OUT WITH A SPEC TO MAKE SURE RUN OUT WAS OK
