One-piece reflector is of heavy gauge hydroformed (.063) aluminum. Die-cast aluminum lens frame is gasketed to seal the reflector system and provide a dust-tight enclosure. Computer designed reflector system eliminates secondary reflections; light is never trapped or redirected back into the lamp. Surface is of high grade specular or diffuse aluminum with reflectance up to 85%. Symmetric pattern provides good spacing to mounting height ratios with very low glare. Standard HID unit constructed to IP65. Less Ballast option constructed to IP54. With Nut and Hub option, unit is constructed to IP54. Standard QL unit constructed to IP65. Lamp Access Hinged and gasketed lens frame assembly allows convenient lamp access from below while ensuring a Dust-Tite optical assembly. Lens Tempered glass is standard or when lamp manufacturer s data recommends use in suitably enclosed fixture. Patented 5 mil FEP Teflon lens is optional (transmits 5% more light than clear glass. HID units with Teflon lens require the use of Open Rated lamps). Optional Teflon over Glass lens may also be specified. Field Adjustable Socket HID Units only: Pre-wired mogul base socket, fully adjustable and easily changed in the field. HID Lamp HID luminaires require mogul-based lamps. QL Lamp / Socket Pre-assembled and integral lamp and lamp holder. QL Induction source provides the following advantages: Instant On, Long Life, Low Glare, and High CRI. Ballast Assembly Features Low profile, die-cast aluminum ballast enclosure is finned for heat dissipation and has a white UltraClad polyester powder coat, electrostatically applied and oven cured. Totally enclosed core & coil assembly and capacitor for safe and reliable component life (HID units only). Ballast HID Units: SilentGuard high power factor ballast with reliable starting to -29 C (-20 F) for Metal Halide, -34 C (-30 F) for Pulse Start Metal Halide, -40 C (-40 F) for High Pressure Sodium. A solid polyester resin compound encapsulates the core and coil assembly to isolate vibration, suppress sound, dissipate heat, provide protection from moisture and corrosion, thereby ensuring the longest possible ballast life. Capacitor and starter (HPS and PS models) are mounted on a separate slide-out plate to facilitate field maintenance. 180 C (356 F) Class H insulation system. Crest factor does not exceed 1.8.
