This publication is a sort of mininewsletter specifically for reporting on the most recent meeting. It will include the Meeting Minutes of the general meeting and a section with pictures, highlighting guest speakers as well as show and tell pictures and brief commentary. Meeting Minutes, 10/1/2014: Channel Island Condors Meeting October 1 st 2014 The meeting was called to order at 7 pm and Bill Schatz led us in the Pledge. There were 2 members in attendance. Old business was related to the meeting with Isabel Trinidad. We were denied more fly days, and there was no indication that we were going to be treated any differently than in the past. She handed us over to one of her subordinates with the promise that he had the power to make decisions so that we will not have to wait while any requests went up the command chain. rone ay was denied because the University has no policy on drones. The newspaper reporter covering the event was surprised and may contact the university in this regard. We received no support from Jeff Gorell. His assistant was told she was not to attend the meeting with us. The minutes from the September meeting were approved by the membership in attendance.. The featured speakers were James Fraser (JB Hobbies) and Lee Schantz (LA engines). Mr Fraser, a club member, has started a business selling r/c planes. He is targeting the market for large scale planes both kits and arfs. He has large warbirds, some -, and a VQ model. The planes are manufactured in Vietnam and China, and have been designed for drop-in for LA engines. The members enjoyed looking at the planes he brought and he was there to answer questions. Some models can be electric powered, but he doesn't have the batteries in stock. He has a website, and his is: james@jb-hobbies.com. He will keep an inventory of both engines and replacement parts. It will be nice to have someone local to provide engines.
