Micronutrients affecting conditions from ADHD to Alzheimer's Disease will be explored. The Benefits and association of consuming a "whole" foods diet in preventing or delaying the onset of cognitive decline and Alzheimer's Disease will be discussed. The role of the dining staff and other health care professionals in optimizing nutritional intake for optimal brain function will be described. s will discuss applications for practice and implementation in their community. 1PM- 2PM Current Healthcare Foodservice Trends Greg Gorgone The healthcare market is changing rapidly. With 10,000 people turning 65 each day in this country, healthcare operations need to respond. On the acute side, we see the need for hotel style room service and great food in the cafe. On the Senior side, we see the demand for restaurant style menus and service. Both are hospitality based services and many operations do not have the resources to respond to their patient's and resident's needs. It takes people to make things happen to plan workshops, to take care of association business throughout the year, and to insure that CDM s are in the forefront of our profession. This year two positions will be up for election Vice President and Secretary. We are also looking for a dedicated person to take on the role of Nominating Committee Chair. These positions all vary in the amount of time required to fulfill their duties and are governed by the SC ANFP By Laws. 7 Fall 2016 Letter from our President Elect I am excited to be starting my new position of President of SCANFP. With the help of the Board members we are going to be working hard to make the next year a good one. I am looking forward to our fall workshop Winds of Change with NCANFP at Cherokee, NC and to see what the 2017 fall workshop will bring when we host NCANFP at Myrtle Beach. The Board has been looking at different locations so we can pick the best to show off what we can offer to our partners and to our members. As we move into this next year, I want to thank Rick Schmiitt for all he has done for SCANFP. He has been very active with the organization for many years in many ways. Rick stepped back in at a time when SCANFP was needing his expertise and brought us back to where SCANFP needs to be. He has been a mentor to me with his knowledge and his genuine desire for SCANFP to succeed. I am looking forward to continuing to learn from him as he transitions to Past President as well as Legislative Committee Chair.
