ACCOUNT NO: , EXECUTIVE SUMMARY BACKGROUND The Fire Department is budgeted to purchase one(1) ambulance medic unit in FY2018. This purchase will be for a Dodge Ram 4500 chassis and Frazer ambulance module. This ambulance is budgeted as part of our annual fleet replacement program. Rather than replacing an existing ambulance, we will be bolstering our reserve fleet in preparation of placing an additional ambulance in service with the opening of Fire Station #8 in Page 1 of 9

2 late FY2019. Staff has obtained Houston-Galveston Area Council (HGAC) contract pricing from Frazer for the unit, due to the historically advantageous pricing afforded by the cooperative for this type of equipment. The unit will be ordered through Frazer's licensed franchised dealer, Mac Haik Dodge. SCOPE OF CONTRACT/AGREEMENT Mac Haik Dodge will deliver the requested ambulance unit for use in the Fire Department. BID AND AWARD The H-GAC contract will be utilized for the purchase of the requested ambulance unit through Mac Haik Dodge. The contract meets all requirements of Local Government Code 252 relative to competitive bidding by Texas municipalities. SCHEDULE It is anticipated that the new unit will be delivered in July POLICY/GOAL CONSIDERATION This bid award will positively impact the City s goal to provide the best emergency medical services possible to its residents. CURRENT AND FUTURE CIP FUNDING/FINANCIAL IMPACTS/DEBT SERVICE Funding for this purchase is budgeted in the Fire Department s FY2018 budget. Recommended Action Staff recommends approval of a resolution to purchase one (1) ambulance, as described herein, from Mac Haik Dodge in the total amount of $239,125 via the H-GAC cooperative purchasing contract.
