The city is one of the few municipalities that are a member of the Channel Industries Mutual Aid (C.I. M.A) which has a membership of 115 companies. Other than the vast industrial complexes it serves, the city serves a population of over 35,000 citizens, occupying an area of square miles. The area ranges from light residential with stables and pastures to dense residential areas with sub-divisions and apartments to light to heavy industrial/chemical complexes. The LaPorte Fire Department is a combination of paid and volunteer firefighters who operate out of four (4) stations. A 30-amp shorepower inlet is provided in the left front compartment connected to an automatic transfer switch that powers interior lighting and outlets and the battery chargers for the auxiliary battery system. Above: Sidewinder HD camera deployed on 30-ft tower. Camera and tower are controlled from the workstation next to the entrance door. Camera signals are independently feed to eight (8) separate monitors in the conference room, logistics center, IC desk and at the camera workstation.
