Both the upper and lower show fields were quite impressive and were thronged by attendees all day. The 2014 Concours, held on Sunday, Sept. 14, drew a large field of XKEs, a plentiful crowd of XK120s, 140s, and 150s, and plenty of saloons, including Ed LaGrassa s elegant Mark VII and Rich Mooers Jade XJ6. Several XK8s were on hand as well. Some Jag rarities included a 3.4 Mark I (for sale), Jay Fisher s , and Vlad Prutsky s striking red 1978 XJ12C. The most interesting rarity at the show was Tom Jaycox s C-type, XKC034, which Tom has lovingly restored over a period of many years. Tom came down from Canaan, Connecticut, where he runs the family business, Jaycox Jaguar, doing restoration and other work for clients. Tom s brother David Jaycox and wife Marie Archibee of Scudder Mews brought their BRG XKE coupe. The Jaycox clan has been at the core of the Jaguar hobby for many years, and it is always good to see them. The MG Car Club Long Island Centre was well represented with choice T, A, B, and C series cars, alongside which were assorted Triumphs, Healeys, Jensens, Morgans, and even a Riley, among other marques. 2 Page 2 President s Corner George Stephani I would very much like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and thank you all for your support and participation in the club s events. We begin the 2015 calendar year with our Annual Post Holiday Event and Luncheon meeting and will discuss the events for this year. Members have been very helpful with coming up with ideas in Your suggestions bring more variety and interesting events for club members to attend. This way we avoid the been there, done that, got the T-shirt syndrome. In this issue we look back at the events we had such as Auto Mat Shop Tour, I-Racing & Coffee, AGM in Boston, Howard Kroplicks Collection and rides on the Alco Beast, Wetlands Cruise & Motorcycle Exhibit, Stony Brook Car Show, Autosports Show Room Tour and other events. We ll be looking forward to another exciting year with some new events and some of the club s favorites as well. Cont from pg. 1 green 1926 Bentley. Thanks to Susan Blackwell and the entire MGCC L.I. Centre for helping to round them all up again this year. A fleet of Studebaker Avantis was neatly lined up on the lower field. Other great Yank classics included David Palter s 1933 Auburn Boattail speedster, Laurence and Janice Campbell s black land-yacht 1962 Imperial, and Arlene- Swenson s chic yellow 1954 Kaiser Darrin. At the entrance to the estate grounds, photographer Artur Tadevosian had each show car pause upon arrival for a picture. Each entrant took home as a memento a handsome 8X10 photo in a matte black frame. At the center of the show, emcee extraordinaire Joe Limongelli held forth on the microphone again this year, inviting owners to bring their cars up to the front and bantering with them about historical and technical details for the crowd. Jaguar of Huntington brought a good showing of new Jags this year, including the F-types, which Joe enthusiastically reviewed on the mike. East Northport restaurateurs Smok-a-Burger s brought their team again this year and served up great food all afternoon. There were plenty of tables and chairs for eating and relaxing with friends inside the big tent, where JDCLI members hosted a 50/50 raffle and ran a silent auction. The auction included items donated by Adriana Trimarchi. Adriana assembled 14 baskets for this year s charity recipient, Long Island Cares Food Bank. Adding in the non-perishable food donations from Concours entrants and attendees, enough was donated this year to provide 1,170 meals to those in need. Long Island Cares will be the charity recipient again next year. Meanwhile, the judging team (see box), led by Brian O Keefe, was out on the field inspecting this year s entries, after which they retired to the judges room to tally their sheets and name the winners in each class. As attendees gathered around, Robert Silvestri was awarded Best in Show among the Jaguars for his 1998 Meteorite XK8, while John Germano s 1970 MGB GT won Best in Show among the MGs. The crowd chose Arlene Swenson s svelte Kaiser Darrin for the People s Choice Best in Show award. Cont, Pg 6

Speaking in Detroit, Andy Goss, Jaguar Land Rover Global Sales Director said: "In 2015 we will celebrate Jaguar's 80th year. We have started it by announcing our first performance crossover which we consider to be the ultimate practical sports car, a car that builds on the marque's founding ideals of Grace, Pace and Space to become one of the most innovative Jaguars we've ever developed. The F-PACE has now begun its engineering and development testing programme ahead of the new model going on sale in 2016." The F-PACE will be manufactured in Solihull, UK. Trophies will begin being processed after the first of the year. After January 1st, AND NOT BEFORE, members who place 1st, 2nd or 3rd, must go to the JCNA web site to confirm their information, and yes, there were a number of addresses and other items that were out of date from those on record.
