7 Car tips Cold winter driving and handling: how will you fare in foul weather? Snow transforms everything and it should change the way you drive, too. If you live in an area that gets significant snowfall, be sure to install four good winter tires. Take things slow in the snow; don t do anything suddenly. Any action, such as stopping or turning, requires more space, so give yourself more room than usual. Be gentle on the pedal gas, brake, clutch (with manual transmission) and the steering wheel. Although your BMW has Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), avoid driving on ice. And even when there is no snow or ice, as temperatures fall, so does road-grip. Bottom line: drive carefully!
