New tunnel drilling systems now make it possible to build mountain and urban crossings in a relatively short amount of time, thus improving traffic flow. In the area of electrical systems for tunnels, there is a strong need for safety and for reliable materials, particularly in view of accidents that have occurred in highway tunnels. This is why TEP offers a series of metal junction boxes designed to meet current safety requirements and capable of making installation and maintenance jobs in tunnels much easier. These boxes have been tested by certifying bodies in order to demonstrate that their components can guarantee continuous electrical power in case of fire. > FIRE-PROOF CERTIFICATION FIRE-PROOF certifications guarantee that the product has passed the performance tests required by ANAS guidelines for lighting, safety and fume extraction systems. The test requested by ANAS, known as FIRE RESISTANCE (November 2009), consists in bringing the environment surrounding the boxes to a temperature of 850 C for 90 minutes. > AVAILABLE PRODUCTS In order to best satisfy the requirements of the various system configurations, TEP offers a wide range of product lines, with specific characteristics and type-approvals: Sheet steel boxes The line of sheet steel boxes, suitable treated and painted, guarantees up to 720 hours of salt fog corrosion resistance, and passed the furnace test at 920 C for 20, in compliance with standard NF C (test report CSI no. DC02/011/F05). Boxes AISI 304 stainless steel Designed to offer the highest corrosion resistance, they passed the furnace test at 920 C for 20, in compliance with standard NF C (test report CSI no. DC02/011/F05). Boxes in painted aluminium The line of boxes in painted aluminium passed the furnace test at 400 C for 300 (test report INTEC no. RP ) and the test required for cables at 850 C for 90 in compliance with standard CEI EN ed (test report IMQ 01SH0015/1). TEP offers its customers the chance to customize boxes according to their installation needs. 2

It consists of: Switch-disconnector for stringent utilization categories (AC- 22 and AC-23), with excellent electrical and mechanical strength, high resistance to damp heat, fitted in an aluminium alloy enclosure with surfaces treated for use in both very damp environments, such as tunnels, and in case of corrosive dust produced by motor vehicle traffic. Overall dimensions: L314 x H264x D122 mm > POWER FACTOR CORRECTION (upon request) Code PA362R The power factor correction (PFC) consists of a 10 kvar three-phase capacitor, equipped with overpressure protection device and discharge resistors; it is housed in a separate box together with a ceramic fuse base to protect the line. The PFC is supplied pre-wired to the fuse base and to the terminal block with conductors type FTG10(O)M1. The outlet-pfc unit is fitted on a stainless steel AISI 304 plate with slotted holes for fixing purposes. Overall dimensions of the socket-pfc unit 660x320. Weight: 9.0 kg
