Effects of Supercharging on performance of the engine. Super charging limits. Methods of supercharging. (6) Superchargers : Type of supercharger, Reciprocating compressor, centrifugal compressor & blower. Turbo charging system. Limitations of turbo charging, two stage turbo chargers. (6) Engine Performance : Performance parameter, power and mechanical efficiency, torque and mean effective pressure, specific output, volumetric efficiency, fuel-air ratio, specific fuel consumption, thermal efficiency, and heat balance.
