1 CURRICULUM COURSE OUTLINE Course Name(s): Auto I Grade(s): Department: Course Length: Pre-requisite: Technology Education 1 Semester (0.5 Credit) NA Textbook/Key Resource: Modern Automotive Technology 8 th Edition, James E. Duffy, Goodheart-Willcox Company, Inc Course Description: Students will learn skills needed for maintaining their own automobiles and types of services needed to make a vehicle last for a long time. Students will also learn how to communicate with mechanics to make sure they are getting the proper service at the correct price. Units of study include: car wash, oil change, coolant checks, tire care, brake checks, tune ups, and computer diagnosis. STUDENTS CAN PROVIDE THEIR OWN REPAIR PARTS OR PURCHASE AUTOMOTIVE PARTS AT A DISCOUNT AS A BENEFIT OF THIS CLASS. Standard(s): NATEF A6 Unit 8: Engine Performance Unit Length: 2 Weeks - How to complete an ignition tune up - How to complete a fuel injector clean - How to complete an intake clean - How to scan for engine codes - List the proper tune up procedures and intervals.
