Installation of heat exchanger, split model Tools and materials required Delivery A. The heat exchanger is delivered in a wooden crate; see Fig. 7. B. The upper section, with the rotor half in parts, placed in transport protection with lifting equipment; see Fig. 8. C. The lower section, with the assembled half of the rotor and the drive motor; see Fig. 8. The necessary bolts, nuts and washers are contained in a plastic bag. A Fig. 7 Fig. 4 B Handle the rotor material with care Fig. 5 C 1835 Fig. 8 Fläkt Woods 3221 GB Specifications are subject to alteration without notice

Lifting components The components are lifted as shown in Figs. 9, 10 and 11. Lifting eyes should be used when lifting the lower section (Fig. 9). Assembly Regardless of whether the heat exchanger is installed on its final base, the base must be level. Any unevenness can be compensated for with spacers. The heat exchanger must be accessible from both sides for final inspection of the rotors and adjustment of the seals. The lower section must be fixed before the start of work to prevent tipping in the case of vertical installation. Fixing can be in accordance with Fig. 12 or Fig. 13. The heat exchanger is intended for vertical installation. If this is not possible, horizontal installation may be performed in accordance with these instructions. Fig. 9 Fig. 12. Stay secured to one of the bolts for the diagonal stays. N.B. One stay to either side of the heat exchanger. Fig. 10 Fig. 13. Stays bolted to existing corners and to the floor or the wall. Fig. 11 Fläkt Woods 3221 GB Specifications are subject to alteration without notice

11 Installation Transportsäkring security device Fig. 17. Lower section Fig. 14. Remove the protection and the transport safety device 11 from the rotor. Lift out the half of the rotor. Important! The installation security device must be left in position while the rotor segments are being installed Fig. 18. Fit the spokes 16 to the hub and the angle brackets 17 for the cover plates with the bolt supplied. Loosely installed Fig. 15. Remove the envelope plates 12 and the straps 13. Save the bolts. Grease nipple Fig. 16. Bend down the lifting arms 14, and lift out the rotor segments 15 and the spokes 16. Fig. 19. Tighten the spoke bolts by hand, although the spoke must still be capable of sliding in the bolted joint. Fläkt Woods 3221 GB Specifications are subject to alteration without notice

Fig. 20. The rotor segments are marked with an ID number as shown in Fig Fig. 23. Position the inner envelope plate on the periphery of the rotor. 2 This is the ID number, applied at the factory. 1 3 Fig. 24. Install the straps so that they are in contact with the lower half of the rotor. Chamfered bracket Fig. 21. Example of finished rotor. Segment elements arranged according to their ID numbers with the numbers facing in the same direction. M10 x 80 This is the installation sequence Locking nut Fig. 25. Install the remaining straps. The chamfered bracket faces outwards. Use the M10 x 80 bolts supplied with washers and locking nuts. N.B. Locking nuts must be used. Fig. 22. Lift the rotor segments into position in the installation sequence shown in the Figure (not in numerical order). Fläkt Woods 3221 GB Specifications are subject to alteration without notice

21 Chamfered bracket Fig. 26. If the distance for the last two bolts is too great, use the threaded rod 21. First tighten one of the straps until the M10 x 80 bolt can be fitted in the second strap. Remove the threaded rod and fit the remaining bolt. Fig. 29. Release the tightened spoke bolts slightly. Then tighten the bolted joints for the straps in turn. Make sure that the distance between the straps is more or less equal for each spoke. Then tighten all the joints to 10 Nm, followed by 20 Nm, and finally to 25 Nm. Once all the strap bolts have been tightened, check the position of the spokes and the roundness of the rotor one more time. Then tighten the spoke bolts to 50 Nm. Rotor: 10 Nm 20 Nm 25 Nm Spoke: 50 Nm Remove the locking nuts. Fig. 27. Before the straps can be tightened, the locking nuts (4 nuts) used to hold the lower half of the rotor must be removed. Release the installation security devices; see Fig. 28. Rotate the rotor so that the locking nuts are situated at the top when they are removed. 18 Fig. 30. The inner peripheral surface of the rotor segments must be positioned at the centre of the marking holes for the spokes as a guide value during installation. Fig. 28. Remove the transport safety devices 18 from the half of the rotor, one on each side. Fläkt Woods 3221 GB Specifications are subject to alteration without notice

A X Fig. 31. Verify the smoothness of the rotor by measuring the distance A for each spoke. A difference of max. 2 mm is acceptable. The spoke is adjusted by releasing its bolts at the hub and then locking the spoke in the correct position. The spoke can be moved into the right position using a clamp or a crow bar. Turn the rotor and adjust the other spokes in the same way. The tightening torque for the spoke bolts is 50 Nm. Check the roundness of the rotor. Max. variation 5 mm. Screen wall Brush strip Gap ca. 8 mm Fig. 32 Fig. 34. Adjustment of rotor sealing gap. Mark one spoke with an X, for example. Measure the dimension A on the X-marked spoke. Turn the rotor through half a revolution, and measure the dimension B on the same spoke. If dimension A = dimension B, the rotor shaft is perpendicular. A difference of max. 2 mm is acceptable. Turn the rotor through a further 1/6 of a revolution, so that the X-marked spoke reaches a stay at point C and measure the dimension. The greatest permissible difference between the A, B and C dimensions is 2 mm. Check that the sealing gap is 8 mm. Fig. 33. Install the outer envelope plates 12. Make sure that they fit over the edge of the inner envelope plates and rest against the spoke flange. Along the inner flange surfaces of the outer envelope plates, the flattened part of the blind rivets must rest against the edges of the inner envelope plates, as shown in the detailed view in Fig. 32. The outer envelope plates are fixed with blind rivets at both ends, as shown above. Fläkt Woods 3221 GB Specifications are subject to alteration without notice

Fig. 35. Adjust the rotor shaft by releasing the rotor securing bolts 1 and 2 on both sides of the rotor. The A and B dimensions (see Fig. 34) can now be adjusted by moving the rotor into the right position by hand. The C dimension is adjusted with the help of the set-screws 3. The tightening torque for the rotor securing bolts 1 is 53 Nm. Fig. 37. Install the upper half of the casing. Lock with the outer bolts 1 and the inner bolts 2. Fix the upright 3 and the panel 4 to the central rail. Install the hinge for the upper inspection cover in the holes 5. Check the gap at the screen wall; see Fig. 34. Centred drive belt Drive wheel Cover the holes with aluminium tape. Fig. 36. Installation of hub plate Fig. 38. Pass the self-tensioning drive belt over the rotor and the drive pulley of the motor. Adjust the motor and the drive belt. Check that the drive belt is centred on the crowned drive pulley. If the belt pulls to one side, release the fixing bolts for the motor and adjust so that the belt is centred. Fläkt Woods 3221 GB Specifications are subject to alteration without notice
