By means of a connection piece secured to the unit casing with self-tapping screws. The duct can then be connected by means of a PG-joint or a flanged joint as shown in Fig. 3a. B. By means of a flexible connection secured to the unit casing with self-tapping screws. The duct can then be connected by means of a PG-joint or a flanged joint as shown in Fig. 3b. C. By means of a collared duct with sheet steel angles at the corners. Connection of duct to the fan outlet Installation principle: All connections should be fitted edge-to-edge with the back plate of the fan. N.B. Not all connection facilities are shown, see Fig. 4 and 5. Electrical connections Electrical connections are to be carried out by an authorized electrician. Use a rubber insulated cable but do not run the cable through the inspectiondoor. Use a trepanning drill, for instance, for drilling a hole for the cable gland at a suitable point on the casing. The cable gland can be arranged as shown in Fig. 7. Safety isolating switch The fan should be equipped with a safety isolating switch such as the LQLZ-17. Always open the safety isolating switch before doing any work on the fan. The safety isolating switch should be located at a point that enables the fan to be withdrawn without having to disconnect the electrical connections. Do not use the safety isolation switch as an operating switch. Fig. 6 Fig. 7 Fig. 4 Fig. 8 Fläkt Woods 9142 GB Specifications are subject to alteration without notice
3 Guards The provisions of the EEC Machinery Directive concerning guards must be met. This means that the fan must be equipped with screen protection for belt drive and inlet or screen protection (requiring tools to dismantle it) behind the inspection cover or a door lock. To adjust the V-belt tension The belts must be correctly tensioned to ensure good contact with the pulleys. If insufficiently tensioned, the belts may slip, and if excessively tensioned, the motor and fan bearings may be overloaded. When correctly tensioned, the belt deflection L will be 15 mm per metre of distance between centres (c/c) when a force P (N) is applied. The deflection and force should preferably be measured by means of a tensiometer (see Fig. 9 and 10). The force P is dependent on the belt type as shown in the table below. To change the belts To change the belts, first move the motor towards the fan by a sufficient amount to enable the old belts to be easily prised off the pulleys and the new belts to be prised on. Change all the belts at the same time. Use matched belts (with the same production number), i.e. belts of exactly the same length. Tension the belts according to the instructions on this page and align them as shown in Fig. 11. Retension the belts after 30 minutes of operation. c/c L Fig. 11 Fig cm N P Moving the motor to adjust the belt tension The belt tension can be adjusted by moving the motor. 1. Remove the belt guard, if fitted. 2. Slightly back off the 4 mounting screws. 3. Use the tensioning screws to adjust the belt tension. 4. Check the alignment of the drive. Align by means of the adjustment screw. 5. Retighten the mounting bolts. 6. Refit the belt guard if one was fitted Tensioning screw Fig. 10 Tensioning pad Belt section SPZ SPZ Effective diameter of smaller pulley, mm P in N / belt Normal Max. 1) SPA SPA Mounting screw SPB SPB SPC SPC ) New belts. 4 Belt pulleys To remove and refit the belt pulley Never hammer the belt pulley onto or off a shaft, since even light blows and shocks may damage the bearing, which will give rise to noise and an abnormally high rate of wear. To remove: 1. Remove the screws, oil them sparingly and screw one of them into the extractor hole, i.e. the tapped hole in the bush (see Fig. 13 and 14). 2. Tighten the screw until the bush is free of the hub and the unit is free of the shaft. 3. Remove the pulley and the bush from the shaft as one unit. To fit: 1. Clean the bore of the pulley and the inside and outside of the bush to remove any anti-corrosion agent, and make certain that the surfaces are completely free from oil and dirt. Fit the bush into the pulley. 2. Oil the screws sparingly and loosely screw them into the tapped holes in the pulley (see Fig. 13). 3. Clean the shaft and fit the pulley and bush onto the shaft as one unit. 4. Tighten the screws alternately until they are all securely tightened. Fig. 13 Screw Extractor hole Screw Checks to be made prior to starting the fan that the fan section is connected to the ducting or equipped with necessary LQLZ-04/08 protective screen, Fig. 1, page 1, on the fan inlet and fan outlet. that an authorized electrician has given approval for commissioning the unit. that the fan impeller rotates freely and that no objects which can be drawn in and damage the fan have been left in the installation. Starting the fan The fan must not be started with the damper on the suction or delivery side closed. However, the motor can be briefly energized with the inspection cover open for checking the direction of rotation. CAUTION! When commissioning a new unit, check the belt tension and adjust, if necessary, after 30 minutes of operation. Storage before installation The storage area must not be exposed to vibrations from the surroundings of a kind which can give bearing damage.if the storage period exceeds 3 months, the belt drive tension should be released and the fans should be rotated by hand at regular intervals. 5 EULF-11 Installation instruction Air flow measurement with q-dysa and analogue flow indicating instrument p Flow sensor q-dysa Filling screw Pa Resetting screw 0 Level Flow indicating instrument The q-dysa flow sensor is supplied if the LQLB and LQLF fan is ordered with flow sensor (code suffix d = 5, 6). The accuracy of the flow sensor is ±7% of the differential pressure reading provided that the installation and maintenance instructions are observed. The analogue indicator instrument shows the air pressure in m 3 /sec. Installation Vertically mount the instrument on a wall or against a panel on the unit and secure it by means of the screws supplied. The horizontal position of the instrument can be adjusted by means of the built-in level. Filling with manometer liquid Back off the resetting screw completely and then screw it in three full turns. This will enable zero setting adjustment in both directions. Remove the filling screw. Fill the instrument with the manometer liquid supplied, pouring the liquid into the filler hole until the level of liquid reaches the zero setting. CAUTION! Do not use any type of liquid other than the manometer liquid supplied. Use the resetting screw for fine adjustment of the zero setting. Refit the filling screw and tighten it. If you have filled the instrument with too much manometer liquid and cannot adjust the zero setting to the proper position, insert a pipe cleaner or the like in the filler hole to remove excessive liquid or pour out a slight amount of liquid. Hose connections The 4 mm i.d. hoses supplied should be cut to the appropriate length and should be connected from the nipples on the upper frame member on the inspection side to the nipples on the instrument, plus to plus and minus to minus. Fasten the hoses as appropriate so that they cannot be damaged or kinked. Checks The zero setting of the manometer should be checked at regular intervals. To check the zero setting, remove the hoses connected to the pressure connections of the manometer. Whenever the need arises, use the resetting screw to adjust the zero setting. Top up with manometer liquid, if required. The measurement nozzle should be blown clean with compressed air once or twice a year depending on the quality of the air. This can easily be done by disconnecting the hoses from the instrument and blowing them with compressed air to free the air passages from impurities. Another type of pressure gauge may also be connected for use as an alternative meter or for checking the performance of the flow indicating instrument. In this case, fit T-nipples in the hoses to the indicating instrument and run hoses from them to the pressure gauge. The air flow can be calculated by the expression: q = 1 Δp m 3 /s k where the value of k is stated on the unit rating plate and Δp is the measurement pressure in Pa. Temperature correction The flow scale on the indicator instrument and the above flow equation are applicable to air at a temperature of +20 C. At other air temperatures, the flow must be corrected with the formula: q = q 20 (273 + t) 293 m 3 /s where q = the actual flow through the fan, q20 = the flow reading and t = the present temperature in C.
