1 AGENDA ITEM: CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA CITY COUNCIL MEETING COMMUNICATION MEETING DATE: May 8 th, 205 AGENDA ITEM: FORMAT: Consideration of approval of a purchase of Mobile Data Computers and CAD mobile licenses related to the Westcom transition. Motion SYNOPSIS INCLUDING PRO & CON: A resolution to approve the purchase of six mobile data computers (MDC s) for the fire department. Staff exhausted all options for non-traditional mobile connectivity (ipads, Surface Pro ETC). Full MDC s are the only solution available. This purchase will place MDC s in ambulances, the main engine, and three SUV s. The equipment is Panasonic Toughpads. There will be four apparatus that will need purchased in the next two years. FISCAL IMPACT INCLUDING COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS: The cost of the MDC s, associated mounting equipment and installation is $$45,63. This cost also includes the purchase of CAD licenses for six police computers and six fire computers at $90 each. COMMISSION/BOARD/COMMITTEE COMMENT: STAFF REVIEW AND COMMENT: Three bids were received and $45,63 was the low bid when all factors were considered. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the purchase. 2 THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA RESOLUTION 5- APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF MOBILE DATA COMPUTERS AND CAD MOBILE LICENSES RELATED TO THE WESTCOM TRANSITION [WAUKEE FIRE DEPARTMENT] IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WAUKEE, IOWA WHEREAS, the City of, Iowa is a duly organized municipality within Dallas County; AND, WHEREAS, City staff recommends the approval of the purchase of six (6) mobile data computers (MDCs) for use by the Department; AND, WHEREAS, the purchase will place MDCs in ambulances, the main fire engine, and three SUVs; AND, WHEREAS, the $45,63.00 cost of the purchase includes the MDCs, associated mounting equipment, and installation, as well as CAD licenses for six (6) Police Department and six (6) Department computers. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of City Council in session this 8 th day of May, 205, that it hereby approves the purchase of Mobile Data Computers and CAD mobile licenses related to the Westcom transition [ Department].
