22 HAND DRIVES BA5*37 - Technical information Fig. - Front hand drive Description The hand drive makes possible to govern the circuit-breaker by rotating the lever, e.g. to switch machines on and off. When a circuit breaker is ordered along with the hand drive, this unit will be installed in the circuit breaker by manufacturer and supplied complete. The hand drive with the so called adjustable lever is provided with an extra supply of an extension shaft and a bearing with an operating lever. The hand drive makes it possible to control the circuit breaker: a) from the front panel of the circuit breaker(fig.) - design: BA5*37-*****86 - for dimensions, see page 8 b) through the switchgear door (Fig. 2) - design: BA5*37-*****86 - for dimensions, see page 8 c) from the side of the circuit breaker - design: BA5*37-*****85 d) through the side wall of the switchgear - design: BA5*37-*****85 The hand drive bearing is attached to the switchgear door and provides protection IP55. Enhanced safety for personnel operating electric equipment It is possible to lock the circuit breaker if the hand drive lever is provided with a lockable mechanism (for the supply number, refer to page 68). 23 BA5*37 - Technical information MOTOR DRIVES Description The motor drive enables the circuit breaker to be controlled (switched on/off) remotely by electric voltage. It is well exploited in automated plants. If a circuit breaker is ordered with a motor drive, the unit will be installed in the circuit breaker by the manufacturer. Upon agreement with the manufacturer, the drive unit may be supplied with an operations counter. Times for switching the circuit breaker on and off by means of the drive unit including necessary pulses are given in table Specifications. If faster tripping is required, the circuit breaker with motor drive may be furnished with a shunt trip or an undervoltage releases. The rated current of the circuit breaker can be controlled from the motor drive front panel. The panel has also an opening for a detachable lever by which the circuit breaker may be controlled even without any supply voltage. The front panel is also equipped with mechanical signalization of circuit breaker status. If a circuit breaker is switched off by any of the releases, the motor drive automatically loads the circuit breaker up to position ( Switched off manually ). A cable ended with a connector for connecting control circuits is part of the motor drive unit.
