27 Merkel V-Packings V 1000 Merkel V-ackings are used for sealing iston rods, lungers and in excetional cases of istons. With their robust design they are ery suitable for use in highly demanding, heay and horizontal comressors, articularly if the lungers are subject to large side forces. V-ackings can een be used if iston rods or lungers cannot be correctly used because of wear. V-acking in connection with fabric ressure and back-u rings are used rimarily in heay-duty hydraulics because they can easily be tightened at any time and their robust design. V-acking rings are sulied oen for nominal diameter u to an inside diameter of 400 mm. 63 Accessories Packing Extractor A clean housing is imortant for the sealing roerties of a new acking. For this reason used seals must be carefully and comletely remoed from the sealing box. Packing extractors were deeloed for the raid and careful remoal of ackings. The forged, helical-shaed tis are firmly joined to the extractor shaft. With their large itch, they can easily be screwed into all tyes of braided and fabric ackings. With the flexible and owerful shaft, een difficult to access acking gland boxes are easy to reach. The T-bar handle is designed for the tensile load and sits easily in the hand. Packing extractors sets are sulied in a ractical case. Each set contains each size of steel extractor: 22 cm, 33 cm, 44 cm long for acking boxes from 6 mm, 0 mm and mm width. For the installation of ackings, metal ring segments can be screwed onto the extractors and in this way they become the ideal tool for ushing the acking rings eenly into the housing without damage. Packing Cutter The uniersal acking cutter was designed for the ractical cutting of ackings from the roll. With the hel of this cutter, ackings can be cut accurately and correctly to suit the alication. The measuring scale is in inches and millimetres. The scale corresonds to the shaft or sindle diameter. In cases with remote excitation frequencies in the lower frequency range, the use of this hydro mount ermits an otimal mounting. By recise reduction of the fluid chamber stiffness of one of the chambers, a significantly imroed comromise of effectie ibration reduction and structure-borne sound isolation is achieed as oosed to the hydro mounts without this design.
