4 Product data ydro ydro Grundfos ydro booster sets consist of 2 to 4 identical Grundfos CR ums mounted in arallel on a common base frame and a control cabinet with motor rotection and integrated CS controller. Pums are automatically oerated according to system demand by means of ressure switches (one for each um). The setting of the ressure switches have to be within the otimal erformance area of each um model. ydro booster sets are sulied as comlete, reassembled and tested systems including suction and discharge manifolds, isolating valves, non-return valves, ressure gauge and ressure switches. A ydro booster set with one um is also available. The booster set is assembled with main mechanical comonents. owever, the control cabinet is simler and does not incororate the CS. To ensure stable oeration the booster set must be fitted with a suitable diahragm tank. The size of the diahragm tank can be calculated according to the section "Diahragm tank selection" at age 27. 5 Product data ydro Function When a ta is oened, water is taken from the diahragm tank. Then the ressure dros to the first cut-in ressure, and the first um is cut in. As the consumtion rises, more ums will be cut in until the erformance of the ums in oeration corresonds to the requirement. When the water consumtion falls, the discharge ressure rises to the cut-out ressure and the CS cuts out one um. As the consumtion falls, more ums will be cut out. The Control offers the following functions, rovided by the CS controller in case of two ums and above: Automatic cascade control of ums Automatic um changeover at any start-u cycle Manual oeration Pum- and system-monitoring functions: maximum ressure re-ressure/level motor rotection Dislay and indication functions: green indicator lights for mode of oeration indications (automatic or manual) and red indicator lights for fault indications otential-free changeover contact for fault signal. Time control To adat the booster set oeration to the actual conditions, the following settings can be made: Start-u delay: Sto delay: Prevents simultaneous start-u of all ums. Time control is articularly convenient to reduce the number of starts and stos er hour, to revent water hammer and negative ressure in the suction manifold as well as other roblems that can arise under certain conditions. 7 Product data ydro Pum The CR um is a non-self-riming, vertical multistage centrifugal um fitted with a Grundfos standard motor. The um consists of a base and a um head. The chamber stack and the outer sleeve are secured between the um head and the base by means of staybolts. The base has suction and discharge orts on the same level (in-line). All ums are equied with a maintenance-free mechanical shaft seal. Motor Electrical data Mounting u to 4 kw: from 5.5 kw: V 18 V 1. Insulation class: F. Three-hase Grundfos motors from 3 kw uwards have a built-in thermistor (PTC) according to DIN 482. Single-hase motors have a built-in thermal overload switch. The ums are fixed to the base frame by means of bolts. The control cabinets are divided into three grous based on construction: Systems with the control cabinet mounted on the um base frame. Systems with the control cabinet mounted on a searate base frame. Systems with the control cabinet without a base frame. therefore suitable for floor mounting. For further information, see the aragrah Dimensions A discharge manifold is mounted on the discharge side of the ums. An isolating valve and non-return valve are mounted between the discharge manifold and the individual ums. The non-return valve may be mounted on the suction side on request. 9 Product data ydro Mechanical installation Location The booster system must be installed in a well-ventilated room to ensure sufficient cooling of the control cabinet and ums. Note: ydro MPC is not designed for outdoor installation and must not be exosed to direct sunlight. The booster system should be laced with a 1-metre clearance in front and on the two sides for insection and removal. Piework Arrows on the um base show the direction of flow of water through the um. The iework connected to the booster system must be of adequate size. The ies are connected to the manifolds of the booster system. To otimize oeration and mimimise noise and vibration, it may be necessary to consider vibration damening of the booster system. Noise and vibration are generated by the rotations in the motor and um and by the flow in iework and fittings. The effect on the environment is subjective and deends on correct installation and the state of the remaining system. If booster systems are installed in blocks of flats or the first consumer on the line is close to the booster system, it is advisable to fit exansion joints on the suction and discharge ies to revent vibration being transmitted through the iework. The ies must be fastened to arts of the building to ensure that they cannot move or be twisted. Foundation The booster system should be ositioned on an even and solid surface, such as a concrete floor or foundation. If the booster system is not fitted with vibration damers, it must be bolted to the floor or foundation. Note: As a rule of thumb, the weight of a concrete foundation should be 1.5 x the weight of the booster system. Damening To revent the transmission of vibrations to buildings, it is advisable to isolate the booster system foundation from building arts by means of vibration damers. Which is the right damer varies from installation to installation, and a wrong damer may increase the vibration level. Vibration damers should therefore be sized by the sulier. If the booster system is installed on a base frame with vibration damers, exansion joints should always be fitted on the manifolds. This is imortant to revent the booster system from "hanging" in the iework. Electrical installation The electrical installation should be carried out by an authorized erson in accordance with local regulations. The electrical installation of the booster set must be carried out in accordance with enclosure class IP 54. Make sure that the booster set is suitable for the electricity suly to which it is connected. Make sure that the wire cross-section corresonds to the secifications in the wiring diagram.
