A split serrated ring, with a sufficient number of heat treated Tru-Dual inserts for gripping both Ductile Iron Pipe and PVC pipe, shall be utilized behind the pipe bell. A split serrated ring, with a sufficient number of heat treated Tru-Dual inserts for gripping both Ductile Iron Pipe and PVC pipe, shall be used to grip the spigot, plain end pipe. A sufficient number of bolts shall be used to connect the bell ring and the gripping ring. The restraint shall be the Series 00TD, as manufactured by EBAA Iron, Inc., or approved equal. The Series 00TD is designed for restraining Ductile Iron pipe or C900 PVC pipe at push-on joints. It has a serrated split restraint ring with heat treated inserts on the spigot and behind the bell. 1. Assemble the push-on joint per the pipe manufacturer s instructions. 2. Install both halves of one of the serrated rings around the pipe behind the bell, tapping each half into place. Make sure that the complete ID of the ring is touching the pipe before installing the side bolts. Install the side bolts and tighten evenly to 60 ft-lbs torque (1 ft-lbs on 8 inch, inch and 12 inch). 3. Remove the side bolts from the second serrated restraint ring. Use the tie bolts to determine the proper location of the restraint ring on the spigot. Allow enough room on the tie bolt to fully engage the nuts. 4. Install both halves of the restraint ring at the proper location, tapping each half into place. Make sure that the complete ID of the ring is touching the pipe before installing the side bolts. Tighten the side bolts evenly to 60 ft-lbs torque (1 ft-lbs on 8 inch, inch and 12 inch). 5. Place nuts on the tie bolts and tighten until they are snug. Allow enough room on the tie bolt to fully engage the nut with several threads showing. Do not tighten these bolts enough to force the spigot further into the bell of the joint. EBAA IRON Sales, Inc. The pipe shall meet all additional test requirements as described in AWWA C900. Our full time quality assurance staff continually administers a rigid program of tests to maintain the production of the best pipe products available. INSTALLATION Recommended installation procedure of Vinyltech Corporation and the Uni-Bell PVC Pipe Association are outlined in AWWA C605, Underground Installation of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Pressure Pipe and Fittings for Water. The Uni-Bell Handbook of PVC Pipe is also an invaluable resource guide for design and installation. TAPPING The consistent success of tapping PVC pressure pipe is contingent upon the use of proper procedures and equipment. Vinyltech recommends strict compliance with the requirements as specified in UNI-B-8, UNI-PUB-8, and AWWA C605. ASSEMBLING THE PIPE Assembly of Vinyltech PVC water pipe is easily accomplished. A depth of entry mark is on each spigot end to serve as a visual check for rapid, accurate joint inspection. Do not over insert. 1) Remove any mud, sand, or other foreign matter from the belled and spigot ends of the pipe. Carefully clean the gasket area. 2) With a clean applicator (a brush or hand) lubricate the entire surface of the pipe from the spigot end to the depth of entry mark and the contact surface of the gasket with Vinyltech Brand Lubricant. 3) Brace the bell to avoid disturbing the already installed joints.
