1 TECHNICAL BULLETIN 1(2) TB1212 August 01, 2012 TOPIC: CONCERNS: MORLEY EMW 32 S 132 KW HYDRAULIC PUMP MOTOR GLAND ADAPTER PLATE CERTIFICATION This technical bulletin is applicable to Sandvik Bolter Miners fitted with Morley EMW 32 S 132 kw hydraulic pump motor certified under IECEx TSA X. Motors certified to AUS Ex 3364X are not affected. Our records indicate at least the following machines have been identified as potentially having a Morley EMW 32 S 132 kw hydraulic pump motor. Sandvik MB650 Bolter Miners Serial 161, 164, 174, 176, Numbers 204 Sandvik ABM25 Bolter Miners Serial 19, 26, 27, 37 Numbers Sandvik MB670 Bolter Miners Serial 135, 137, 144, 190 Numbers The Owner of machinery has a liability to inform and when necessary to train according to the content of this Bulletin all the personnel (like operators, maintenance personnel) whom this Bulletin concerns. BULLETIN NUMBER: TB1212 Purpose To notify the owners and operators of Sandvik Bolter Miners in Queensland that it has come to our attention that the gland adapter plate on the Morley EMW 32 S 132 kw motor is not certified under IECEx TSA X. Description This motor forms part of a series of motors that were originally certified by SIRA (UK) under certificate of conformity IECEx SIR X. The gland adapter plate certification drawing , copy attached, was included in Issue 3 of this certificate, copy attached refer drawing list on p4 of issue 3. They were subsequently recertified by TestSafe under certificate of conformity IECEx TSA X, to enable use in Queensland. However the gland adapter plate was not included under IECEx TSA X. Hence all motors with this gland adapter fitted are not certified for use in ERZ1 zones in Queensland. IECEx TSA X lists drawing Rev. D on the drawing list of Issue 2. This drawing refers to drawing , which shows the terminal box gland entry point and adapter plate mounting face used on the motors supplied by Sandvik. Morley submitting an application to TestSafe for this gland plate to be included in certificate of conformity IECEx TSA X. This will be done Wednesday 1st August. 2. We anticipate that TestSafe will undertake a desk audit of the drawings, test reports and SIRA certificates of conformity. They will advise if any changes are required, although this is not expected given that the adapter plate configuration has already been assessed and certified. 3. TestSafe will release Issue 4 of IECEx TSA X. Whilst we will endeavour to release this as soon as possible, the present estimate for release is end-august, early September. 4. Sandvik will release a Technical Bulletin containing Issue 4 and associated drawings, Recommendations 1. The owner and/or operator of a Sandvik Bolter Miner inspect the equipment to unequivocally ascertain if a Morley EMW 32 S 132 kw hydraulic pump motor certified under IECEx TSA X is fitted. 2. Where this motor is fitted, review the attached documentation, and undertake a risk assessment to ascertain the continued interim use of the miner until a new issue of the certificate of conformity is released. The rotor shaft passes through the endshields by means of roller element bearings mounted in shaft gland arrangements. The machine is air cooled by means of a suitably guarded fan mounted on the non-drive end drawing air over the housing which is finned to increase the cooling area. The motor is provided with facilities for foot mounting. A fabricated steel terminal box, with a bolt-on access cover, is bolted to a mounting flange on the housing. Cables pass through the motor wall via a duct welded to the motor housing. A mounting flange is provided on the motor frame wall for the fitting of a bolt-on, cast iron terminal box (drawing ). A terminal plate is interposed between the box and the motor mounting flange with power and auxiliary moulded terminals passing through it and cemented in place. A facing is provided for the fitting of suitably certified and dimensioned cable entry components, with or without the interposition of a suitable adaptor. The machine has two poles and is rated for supplies up to V, 50/60 Hz; the type designation and rated output are proportional to the core length: Core Length Type designation Maximum Rated output 210 mm (minimum length) EM21 45 kw 780 mm (maximum length) EM kw CONDITIONS OF CERTIFICATION: YES as shown below: 1. When anti-condensation heaters are fitted they must be interlocked with the motor supply such that the heaters are only energised when the motor is de-energised. 2. When fitted with a shaft locking device, the motors must be fully disengaged before energising the machine. 3. Each terminal box fitted in accordance with this variation shall be subjected to a routine overpressure test at 9 bar, in all cases the pressure shall be maintained for at least 10 s as required by clause 16 of IEC :2001. There shall be no leakage, permanent deformation or damage. 4. Each Water way fitted in accordance with this variation shall be subjected to the following routine pressure of 51.8 bar for at least 30 minutes, there shall be no leakage, damage or permanent deformation as a result of the tests. 5 The thermal protection thermistors shall be connected to a suitable load breaking device fitted whenever the machine is specified for use either: from supplies that are non-sinusoidal or from a variable speed drive or, to specified duty ratings S2 to S8, as defined by IEC

The assembly comprises a bearing mounted withdrawl gear arrangement that is outside the flameproof enclosure Issue TWO Dated this Issue introduced the following changes: 1 To permit EXTR GB/SIR/ExTR version 1 to replace GB/SIR/ExTR Issue 3 - this Issue introduced the following changes: 1 The re-rating of the machines for use with either:supplies from a variable speed drive or,to specified duty ratings S1 to S8, as defined by IEC The machines are, when in duties other than S1, always fitted with the thermal protection devices (thermistors). 2 The fitting of an alternative cable entry adaptor with a suitable facing for an incoming cable entry device as drawings & The alternative machining of the terminal box facing to accommodate a spigot fitting cable entry device, as drawing The fitting of an alternative flat plate adaptor with a suitable facing for an incoming cable entry device, as drawing Issue 4 this Issue introduced the following changes: 1 The rationalisation of the drawings to recognise that the sealing joints are now shown. 2 The introduction of a new sealing arrangement as an alternative to the current Inpro Seal.

Optional fitting of dual windings to allow two-speed operation. 4. Alternative rating for use on 60 Hz supplies, the motor being suitably re-rated. 5. Fitting of potting compound in the cable duct when the terminal box is centrally located. 6. Alternative DE endshield incorporating a flange to allow the motor to be end mounted. 7. Addition of a cowl to protect against the ingress of objects into the fan when the motor is vertically mounted. 8. Alternative profiled terminal box and terminal plate. Up to 10 terminals pass through the plate and are cemented in place. (drawing ). 9. Alternative dimensioned terminal box mounting flange to allow the fitting of a larger terminal box. The box comprises a fabricated steel housing with a bolt on-cover. A terminal plate is interposed between the box and the motor mounting flange with four moulded terminals and a suitably certified cable bushing passing through. The box further contains terminal blocks and a control module. A facing is provided for the fitting of suitably certified and dimensioned cable entry components, with or without the interposition of a suitable adaptor. (drawing ). 10. Alternative profiled terminal box and terminal plate to form an auxiliary terminal box. The box contains terminal blocks and up to 3 suitably certified cable bushings (or blanking plugs) pass through the terminal plate. (drawing ). 11. Addition of a second terminal box mounting flange for the fitting of either an auxiliary terminal box or a steel, bolt-on blanking plate. 12. Addition of a dual entry adaptor for use on the HV terminal box. 13. Alternative terminal plate configurations fitted to the 1.1 kv terminal box; the terminal plate is fitted with six, moulded terminals and a suitably certified and dimensioned, threaded, multi-core bushing, and a terminal block and control diode being optional. This motor is rated for use on voltages up to 6 600V and is fitted with a water cooling jacket around the housing. The cooling fan, cowl and fins are omitted from this version. The type designations and rated output are proportional to the core length: Core Length 210 mm (minimum length) 780 mm (maximum length of standard range) Type designatio n Rated output at 50 Hz Minimum water flow (l/min) EMW21 45 kw 3.26 (calculated at 7.25 l/min per 100kW) EMW kw (calculated at 7.25 l/min per 100kW) The motors have an increased housing and winding diameter The EMW variants include one of following alternative terminal box arrangements, the cable duct and mounting flange(s) being omitted. Top mounted box comprising a fabricated steel housing with a bolt on-cover. A facing is provided for the fitting of suitably certified and dimensioned cable entry components, with or without the interposition of a suitable adaptor. Cables pass directly into the housing and sealant may be applied at the cable entrance to protect the cables. The box contains terminals and water jacket thermostat mounting facilities. (drawing ). Top mounted box comprises a fabricated steel housing with a bolt-on cover welded to the top of the motor frame. A facing is provided for the fitting of suitably certified and dimensioned cable entry components, with or without the interposition of a suitable adaptor. Cables pass into the motor enclosure via suitably certified and dimensioned threaded bushings. The box contains power and auxiliary terminal facilities. (drawing No ). Top mounted box comprising a fabricated steel housing forming two chambers each with a bolt-on cover. Cables pass directly into one chamber and sealant may be applied at the cable entrance to protect the cables. A terminal plate is interposed between the two chambers with three moulded terminals passing through it and cemented in place. The box comprises a fabricated steel housing with a bolt-on cover welded to the top of the motor frame. A facing is provided for the fitting of suitably certified and dimensioned cable entry components, with or without the interposition of a suitable adaptor. Cables pass into the motor enclosure via suitably certified and dimensioned threaded bushings. The box contains power and auxiliary terminal facilities. Addition of anti-condensation heaters or heating tape within the motor housing, the devices being terminated in one of the terminal boxes. The rotor shaft passes through the endshields by means of roller element bearings mounted in shaft gland arrangements. A facing is provided for the fitting of suitably certified and dimensioned cable entry components, with or without the interposition of a suitable adaptor. The machine has two poles and is rated for supplies up to V, 50/60 Hz; the type designation and rated output are proportional to the core length: Core Length Type designation Maximum Rated output 210 mm (minimum length) EM21 45 kw 780 mm (maximum length) EM kw CONDITIONS OF CERTIFICATION: YES as shown below: 1. When anti-condensation heaters are fitted they must be interlocked with the motor supply such that the heaters are only energised when the motor is de-energised. 2. Each terminal box fitted in accordance with this variation shall be subjected to a routine overpressure test at 9 bar, in all cases the pressure shall be maintained for at least 10 s as required by clause 16 of IEC :2001. There shall be no leakage, permanent deformation or damage. 4. Each Water way fitted in accordance with this variation shall be subjected to the following routine pressure of 51.8 bar for at least 30 minutes, there shall be no leakage, damage or permanent deformation as a result of the tests.
