1 TRaC Global Limited, Unit 1, Pendle Place, Skelmersdale, West Lancashire, WN8 9PN, United Kingdom Annex to IECEx Certificate of Conformity Equipment Range: The design variants covered are either: a) Complete flameproof assemblies comprised of sensor elements mounted to flameproof IECEx component approved TC Ltd. terminal head enclosures type P22, P23, P24 (IECEx SIR U) and type P27 (IECEx SIR U). b) Standalone temperature sensors fitted with IECEx approved type SF cable glands (IECEx TRC X) manufactured by TC Ltd. The range also includes the feed-through model 54 assemblies which are employed to extend thermocouple wires up to 120m. These consist of a metallic sheath housing the thermocouple wires, fitted to back-to-back SF type cable glands. Note that the standalone assemblies are suitable for use in Ex ia EPL Ga applications when used with a suitably certified intrinsically safe supply. Refer to special conditions for safe use. c) Complete intrinsically safe assemblies with suitably certified intrinsically safe equipment fitted into terminal head. In this configuration, when supplied by a suitably rated and approved intrinsically safe barrier, the thermocouples or RTD s are classed as simple equipment and the EPL is Ga & Da, Category 1 suitable for a Zone 0 or 20. Note that only stainless steel type enclosures are permitted for EPL Ga Category 1 equipment. Where aluminium type P22 or P27 enclosures are used, the assemblies are classified as EPL Gb & Db, Zone 1/21 Category 2 equipment. This option is available for the type 52, 53, 57 and 58 equipment. Type variants and part number breakdown: Type 52 - Thermocouples with pot seal, termination entry gland or terminal head end seal. Type 53 Spring loaded thermocouple with terminal head. Type 54 Thermocouple feedthrough assemblies. Type 57 RTD-PT100 probes with pot seal, termination entry gland or terminal head end seal. Type 58 - Spring loaded RTD-PT100 with terminal head. 4 Annex to IECEx Certificate of Conformity Thermocouple options and types of probe metallic sheath materials are: Due to the nature of the equipment the temperature classification of the overall assembly will depend on the process temperature and the installation method of the temperature probe. 6 CONDITIONS OF CERTIFICATION 1. Overall temperature class of all assemblies is either (a) - determined by process temperature as stated below. This must be performed when no flammable atmosphere is present. The overall temperature class of the assembly shall be established at the point of exit through the boundary wall into the zoned area. 2. In standalone Ex ia applications the epoxy used in the end seals, pot seals and entry gland shall not be subjected to temperatures in excess of: Resin Type Temperature Rating S Type 90ºC H Type 230ºC J Type 260ºC Usage Pot seal & Termination entry gland terminations with PVC cable, or when specified with 3P2L, 3P4CL, CE2L & CE4CL in part code Pot seal & Termination entry gland terminations with PFA cable or when specified with 3P2LA, 3P4CLA, CE2LA & CE4CLA in part code Pot seal & Termination entry gland terminations with Fibreglass cable or when specified with 3P2LJ, 3P4CLJ, CE2LJ & CE4CLJ in part code 3. The Ex d terminal head and associated entry gland, end seal and pot seals shall not be subjected to ambient temperatures in excess of +60 C. Annex Page 6 of 9

7 Routine tests, if any: 1. The RTD and Thermocouple temperature sensors shall be subjected to an electric strength test at 500V r.m.s. for at least 1 min between the connection leads and the sensor casing in accordance with IEC Cl Annex Page 7 of 9

8 Special conditions for manufacture : Intrinsic safety Ex ia version terminal head: 1. The intrinsically safe EPL Ga Ex ia IIC versions of the equipment shall only employ stainless steel type terminal head enclosures. 2. Maximum power dissipation in the terminal head shall not exceed 2.2W. 3. The intrinsically safe II EPL Ga Ex ia IIC versions of the equipment shall only be used with a suitably IECEx certified intrinsically safe supply suitable for the supply parameters of the thermocouples and PT100 sensors. 4. Intrinsically safe equipment fitted within the terminal head shall be suitably IECEX certified for use in EPL Ga areas and shall comprise only a single intrinsically safe circuit. 5. Internal terminals and all associated wiring shall be fitted in accordance with the requirements of IEC Terminals for internal equipment shall have a separation distance to earthed parts of >3mm. Flameproof Ex d version terminal head: 1. The cross-sectional area remaining free after installation of the internal equipment shall not be less than 30% 2. Spring fittings shall be secured with threadlock compound suitable for the temperature range if the equipment. These shall be tightened to ¼ turn past finger tight. 3. Cable entries shall be closed using suitably certified IECEx cable glands suitable for the temperature class of the overall assembly. Standalone intrinsic safety Ex ia version temperature sensors 1. The intrinsically safe EPL Ga Ex ia IIC versions of the equipment shall only be used with a suitably IECEx certified intrinsically safe supply suitable for the supply parameters of the thermocouples and PT100 sensors. 2. All associated wiring shall be in accordance with the requirements of IEC Annex Page 8 of 9
