1 for Certificate No.: IECEx TSA X Issue No.: 1 Equipment: Morley type BMW**, CMW** and DMW** Motors are TEWC three phase induction motors with terminal box intended for incorporation into mining machinery. The motors are further identified by a two-digit suffix, which denotes the core length in centimeters. All variants are developments to corresponding air-cooled BM, CM and DM motors from the same manufacturer. Enclosure for all of these motors consists of a cylindrical housing fabricated from mild steel with machined steel or SG cast iron end shields that are attached by fasteners to the stator case end ring. All variants are direct water cooled via a concentric jacket over the stator casing. Over temperature protection is provided for all variants. Drive output is via a solid shaft with keyway. The rotor shaft passes through the endshields by means of roller element bearings mounted in a shaft and flanged gland arrangement. The Motors are rated for supplies up to 3300 V and have the design limits detailed by table 1. Table 1 Motor type Core length - mm Rated continuous output kw. Electrical connection is via a terminal box that is either one design that is fabricated integral with the motor at the DE or one of several types that may be bolted to a fabricated flange at the DE. The water-cooled range does not have provision for an auxiliary terminal box. For bolt on terminal boxes, winding lead-outs and control circuits pass through the stator / rotor enclosure wall via an aperture to the base of the terminal plate. For the fabricated types, winding lead-outs and control circuits pass through the stator / rotor enclosure wall via bushings into the terminal box. The fabricated-on (integral) terminal box is detailed by drawing and its enclosure is identical to that used for the FMW motor series from the same manufacture and detailed by FMW drawing This terminal box has no BM, CM, DM (air cooled) equivalent. Internal volume is ml. The bolt on terminal box may be one of several types, all of which are common to the air-cooled designs. Selection of a particular bolt on terminal box depends on the dimensions of the terminal box adaptor and the particular application. All drawing references for bolt on terminal boxes include the motor adaptor plate and terminal plate detail, bushings, entries and earthing provisions. Type variations The following permitted design variations are applicable to the motors as appropriate to their individual designs. Two, four, six, eight, ten or twelve pole windings. Two speed operation by dual windings. Alternative rating for use on 60 Hz supplies. Use of nationally component certified bushings whose dimensions and fitting comply with the Motor manufacturers detail. Alternative design of the bearing housings to allow the fitting of temperature monitoring devices. These devices are terminated within the terminal box. Optional fitting of a shaft-locking device on the NDE bearing cap. Fitting of the cable entry adaptors that are interposed between the terminal box and cable entry device. Fitting of nationally certified restrained receptacle or bolted coupler via an adaptor to the terminal box. Page 2 of 5

Conditions of manufacture 1. Each completed motor, bushing plate, terminal box (including terminal plate and bushings) and adaptor, or equivalent components assemblies, shall be proof pressure tested in accordance with clause 16 of IEC for the requirements. Each electrical variation of the motor range shall be type tested in accordance with, and meet the requirements of, clause 26.5 of IEC , fourth edition. Records of these tests shall be retained. In addition, the tests shall include a measurement where the Motor is loaded or operated with reduced cooling until the intended operation of the thermal protection devices. Conditions of safe use 1. Supply and control cable insulation shall be rated for operation at 90 o C or greater. 2. Replacement fasteners shall only be with the type and grade specified by the manufacturer. 3. Cable entry glands and /or blanking plugs shall be nationally certified types, suitable for the adaptor types provided. 4. Motor lead out glands shall be certified types compatible with the certification of the motor. 5. Receptacle shall be a certified type that is compatible with the adaptor provided and the certification of the motor. 6. Installation of a Motor shall include the connection of the thermal protection devices in the control circuit. Page 3 of 5
