These pumps are typically used firefightg applications for supplyg water to fire hose reels, fire hydrants or sprkler systems. Pumps have a discharge range from 0 to 20 USgpm and the head range from.2 to bar. These fire pumps meet or exceed the requirements of NFPA20. Installations of these pumps would ensure the safety of human life, buildgs, and expensive equipments and plants. FGHC fire pumpset shall be used only where a positive suction is provided as specified NFPA20. There fire pumps typically consist of the followg equipments: Horizontal Split Case pump. Replaceable shaft protectg sleeves. No threads exposed to pump medium, long operatg life and no corrosion. Adjustmentfree assembly. Seal Asbestos free, soft packed stuffg boxes. 26 Pump Introduction Pump are small, motor driven pumps used conjunction with ma fire pumps to compensate for mor leaks the fire protection system and automatically mata standby pressure. This reduces wear on the ma pump and controller caused by unnecessary, frequent operation. Pump controllers are available for acrossthele startg. Occasionally a Fire Pump system, water leakage will occur at flanged or threaded pipe connections, valve stems, stuffg boxes, etc. This normal loss of water will lower the system pressure gradually until the ma Fire pump is required to start. To mimize wear on the Fire Pump resultg from unnecessary operation, a Pump is recommended for the system. In a Pump system a small pump, motor and Controller / pressure switch unit is stalled the pipg system. When the water pressure drops below the preset level, the pressure switch energizes a starter which activates the Pump. Correct water pressure is therefore mataed at all times. An optional mimum run timer will prevent the Pump from beg started too frequently. This timer will ensure operation for a mimum of 2 mutes. If a fire should start, the pressure will contue to drop and the ma Fire Pump wil start. Automatic controllers also clude a "Handoff Automatic" selector switch for manual operation. 2
