AMPS Services Inc. is a consulting engineering firm, specializing in providing a full compliment of electrical, instrumentation & automation engineering services to heavy industrial mining and utility clients. Our staff is comprised of engineers and technical experts with industrial plant experience, as well as specializing in high voltage design. AMPS Powerline Inc. is a high voltage electrical service provider of choice for new high voltage electrical construction, as well as offering maintenance, repair and testing of existing electrical services. Our staff consists of project management specialists, interprovincial power line technicians as well as industrial and commercial electricians.

Conrad Asmundson, President, Head Engineer, P.Eng is a Senior E/I & C Engineer with 20 years of experience in a large variety of industrial, utility and municipal projects. He has acted in the capacity of Senior Engineer in detailed design, project management, supervision, superintendent, and as a principal electrical project engineer. His experience includes detailed design/management for industrial and high voltage electrical distribution systems and industrial plant control systems, distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controls (PLC), design/management, industrial maintenance practices, maintenance crew/department supervision, construction site management and project start up/commissioning. Daniel Roberts, P. Eng., is an Intermediate E/I&C Engineer with 7 years experience in arc flash analysis, distribution maintenance, and protective device coordination studies. He has been involved in testing and commissioning of high voltage distribution equipment in dozens of industrial facilities in Canada. Dan has also been involved in the design, procurement, and project management of multiple projects since joining AMPS (2010). His more recent experience includes PLC and HMI programming, instrumentation, and project commissioning.

4 AMPS Powerline Inc. AMPS POWERLINE INC. Kent Newman, President, is a Journeyman Powerline Technician with 2 3 years of electrical experience at Manitoba Hydro in a large variety of positions. He has acted in the capacity of Key Account Officer, Energy Service Advisor and other supervisory roles within Manitoba Hydro before joining AMPS in June of Kent s experience includes thorough knowledge of Manitoba s electrical infrastructure as well as products, services, policies and rate structure. For 12 years he was the Key Business negotiator with large commercial and industrial customers for Manitoba Hydro. He was also involved in the installation of many large energy management projects through Manitoba Hydro s Performance Optimization Program (Power Smart) and also completed Manitoba Hydro s Distribution Engineering Technician training. Scott Penner, Project Manager, BSME has extensive trades, construction, maintenance and project management experience. Scott has worked in the capacities of Facilities and Maintenance Manager for a large Manitoba steel producer as well as Operations and Procurement for a High Voltage Construction and Maintenance company. He has 6 years of experience in High Voltage apparatus, construction, maintenance, project management and emergency repairs. Scott has also worked closely with and is familiar with Manitoba Hydro districts, design, codes and standards, construction and key/major accounts departments.

Two new 66kV MPOD s, two 10MVA kV DSC s with secondary voltage regulators, new 15kV electrical building and switchgear. $3.5 M (2010) Hinge FAR electrical distribution upgrade of the 12.47/2.4kV 1500kVA transformer to a new 12.47/4.16kV 5000kVA transformer. $200k (2010) Shaft 007 Portal 12.47kV overhead transmission line installation. $600k (2010) Crusher electrical distribution installation of a new 2.4kV:600V 1250kVA transformer along with a new 600 switchboard, 1200A switchboard. $100k (2011) Compressor electrical distribution replacement of the existing 600V, 1200A switchboard to a new 600V, 1600A switchboard to accommodate two new 300HP compressors. $80k (2011) One new 12.47kV:600V, 600kVA skid and six new 4.16kV:600V 500kVA skids to accommodate new mining loads required for 2011 dates. $600k (2011) Three new 12.47kV overhead transmission line installations have been completed OH1, OH2, and OH3. $500k (2011)

Result is approximately 2400HP of induction compressor load operating at near unity power factor. (2008, 2009) New de-tuned power factor correction unit,12.47kv, 4 stage, 2.4 MVAR bank, (fed by MB Hydro Line 48) powering the Hinge and 007 operations. (2011) Power Smart Initiatives Heat recovery study for salvaging the waste heat from equipment to heat other buildings Various other power smart initiatives as recently documented and televised by Manitoba Hydro including main hoist motor speed control upgrades.
