1 Description Description Side marker lamps can be connected in different ways depending on whether the vehicle has been supplied from the factory prepared for this: All vehicles can be supplemented with side marker lamps by connecting them to the tail lamp cables via a three-way cable harness that can be purchased from Scania dealers. On vehicles that are prepared from the factory with a cable harness for bodywork from cab to frame, extra side marker lamps can be connected directly to this cable harness. Activation The side marker lamps are activated when the headlamp rotary control is in the mid or right position regardless of the starter key position. The side marker lamps are always activated when the starter key is in the drive position. :60-08/07 Issue 3 en-gb (9)
2 Alternative : Connection via a standard tail lamp connector This connection can be carried out on all vehicles. 5 Work description. Detach the existing cable () from the tail lamp and pull it into the frame so that the connector ends up in the beam web. 2. Connect the cable to the three-way cable harness (2). 3. Pull one of the cables (3) out through the frame and connect it to the tail lamp. 4. Pull the other cable (4) inside the beam web. Connect the extension cable (5) to pin 2 (tail lamp) and pin (ground). 5. Connect the other end of the connecting cable (6) to the new side marker lamp. Continued on the next page. 6 6. Test its operation. 7. Clamp the cables in the beam web (refer to illustration). IMPORTANT! Do not clamp the shrinking tubing too close to the connector (shown in red in the illustration) since it can be damaged and cables can chafe against the connector. 25 mm :60-08/07 Issue 3 en-gb 6 (9)
7 Alternative 2: Connection via bodywork cable harness from cab to frame This connection can be carried out on vehicles that are prepared with a bodywork cable harness from cab to frame C449 In this connection the signal for the side marker lamps is brought from the central electric unit. The signals are connected to connector which passes the signals on to the DIN connectors under the cab via the option bodywork cable harness from cab to frame.
