White Basic Info Registration date 4/1997 Chassis Number GC Mileage Color White OTR Price 7995 Detailed description The Subaru Technica International Version 3 Type R was made especially for original homologation of 2 door Imprezas for racing in WRC. It's one of the most interesting and capable of the classic shape Imprezas that can finally once again be imported to the UK. This is the connoisseur`s Impreza - finely honed for maximum performance and capability, this is the most impressive of the breed. Since April 2004, a model report has been required when SVA testing any car newer than 10 years old on application for first UK registration. Although there are newly released model reports for Sti 3 & 5 4 door models, there are none available for the much rarer and classic STi 2 door Imprezas. This mean that until recently, pre-1997 Impreza Type R's could not be imported to the UK. This is one of the first we are importing in 2 years! As most pre 1997 Imprezas in Japan are too tired nowadays, or just too expensive if in top condition and low mileage - we are usually unable to supply Imprezas. We simply won't buy a car that doesn't meet our exacting standards, which is why we also selected this outstanding example for stock when available. This Sti Version 3 Type R Coupe is an outstanding example in every respect. This model was only made for the Japanese market, with Prodrive offering the UK equivalent P1 models at very srtong money back home. Special high performance features abound - Mechanically this model carries the same spec. as the P1 UK models and more!specification: Water jets are fitted above the intercooler & these can be operated automatically or at the touch of a button. The steering rack is quick geared for less turns from lock to lock, as engineered by Subaru Technica International. 4 Piston signature front brake calipers give excellent braking performance, as required. Further improvements from Subaru includes Sti carbon fibre front strut brace & an uprated intercooler. The engine is a red top unit - factory blueprinted & endowed with 1

2 stronger internals with a higher 8,000 rpm rev limit. Packing a 280+ bhp punch as standard, although we are able to uprate this easily to 350 bhp + with mild modification. To get 350 bhp, all it needs is an uprated ECU, boost controller and uprated exhaust system, plus UK rolling road mapping to suit. We also strongly recommend fitting a carbon fibre STi 8 styled & sized intercooler scoop - as this will force twice the volume of air through the intercooler (All parts, fitting and setting up is available through The gearbox is a close ratio unit with an adjustable centre differential, geared for maximum speed of 155 mph at the red line. The electronically adjustable centre differential allows any range between a fully locked (For very slippery conditions such as snow) all the way to 70% rear and 30% front bias allowing understeer to be dialed out and for power oversteer to be supplied as required, especially with the uprated differential at the rear as described below & in pictures). Original specification includes: Power steering, power windows, electric mirrors with retract mode, central locking, climate control a/c, tinted windows with retract mode, privacy rear glass, rear wiper, full Sti interior with standard sports seats, fitted mats, etc. Uprated performance items. This Sti Version 3 Type R Coupe is mostly and essentially close to standard mechanically, although some well appointed performance extras have been added as follows: Gram Lights 57C Forged alloy (Super lightweight) 17" wheels are fitted with good quality Bridgestone Playz PZ-1's of size 215/40-R17. Tyres are near new. The rear differential has been uprated with a Cusco 2 way mechanical item. It's normal for this to be heard on tight corners as the clutches inside slip against each other, but under faster use it will be working to provide maximum drive and be silent in operation. This helps provide excellent rear traction / improved rear biassed 4 wheel slidability when pushing hard exiting corners - Ideal for enhanced control on trackdays and high speed B roads. The exhaust is a stainless steel megaphone DUNK item. Good quality, sporty sounding without being excessively noisy. Inside there's an HKS turbo timer. Test drive: Test driving this example revealed no faults at all. It drives perfectly. Boost climbs quickly to peak and holds steady. Brake discs usually suffer from heavy wear on Imprezas - if driven hard for most of their lives. This example's discs are visually in very unworn condition. Suspension hasn't been upgraded. The original STi suspension is considered to give an excellent ride, with great roadholding in comfort for UK roads, so nothing needing doing here either. Over a bumpy road there were no rattles or squeaks. Clutch has plenty of life left and brakes feel strong and disc-warp free (Another usual fault on Scoobies - but not on this one!). Performance is also strong and healthy. Clearly this feels like a car that hasn't been used hard and has been well maintained. Note that tyres are each about 1/3rd worn only. Mechanically and cosmetically, this Sti Version 3 Type R is in excellent condition. Note that the timing belt was renewed less than 6,000 2

3 miles ago (Documented). No noisy hydraulic valve buckets is indicative this car`s oil has been regularly changed. Indeed, it`s still golden coloured from a recent change. Interior: Note: Boot pictures don't show the hard under cover and carpet, but these are included with the car. Original fitted mats are also fitted. Note - there is only basic audio included with this car, although there are uprated speakers. Aside from some tiny holes on the top section of the steering column and A pilar trim, where gauges may previously have been fitted. These are too small to include repaired in the car's costs. We ask for detailed information from you, so we can provide an accurate quotation from the beginning. If you are inquiring about a car from stock, steps (2) and (4) are not required. (2). When sourcing to order, our quotation is based on your requirements. As long as your budget is sufficient for the car youre after & the car is likely to be available, we will be prepared to find the car you order, or better. Remember: even if you budget too much, it doesnt matter. We operate a system of supplying the best car we can find, plus a set fee of 900. If we can buy your car for a low price, then you make the corresponding saving. (3). When you are ready to proceed, we ask for a deposit (& completed order form, if applicable). The deposit is usually 1,000. If you want a car worth over 10K OTR, then the deposit is 1,500. The deposit is fully refundable without question, should you for any reason need to cancel before a car is bought on your behalf. If you are reserving a car from stock the deposit is refundable less costs and time incurred provided you cancel 4 working days before shipment from Japan. (4). Miguel, our buyer keeps you informed via periodically whilst searching for your car. Sometimes it can take weeks, even months to find the right car. In addition to Miguel attending the major Tokyo auctions daily, we have buyers searching daily throughout Japan for the car you want. No news simply means we havent found it yet. We dont buy the first car which comes along. It must meet or exceed your requirements whilst not costing more than the OTR price we agreed, though it frequently costs less. (5). As soon as available, we will you up to 30 detailed photographs, showing all aspects of your car. We also include a detailed description. Of course, total OTR price is known at this stage, so we let you know. Cars are insured from the time theyre bought, to the time they are completed & collected by you in UK. (6). Usually, boats are available every 2-3 weeks, from Japan to UK (Southampton). 42

43 We arrange for your car to be shipped on the first vessel available. Around the time the car is shipped, we ask for the second instalment. Typically this is approximately 60% of the cars OTR total cost. Note that the car we supply to you is fully insured at all times prior to you collecting it. (7) We arrange booking of the SVA test in advance - shortly after the car departs, so that the car can be tested as soon as possible upon arrival to UK. We also inform our UK agent of your full contact details and information on everything which needs doing, to make sure the car wil be presented in beautiful condition. (8). Shipping takes 5 weeks. Around 2 weeks before arrival, we ask you for the final instalment, to cover Import duties, VAT, shipping, UK conversions, testing, registraton etc. (9). Before the car arrives, we arrange customs clearance, etc. so the car neednt spend un-necessary time waiting at the docks upon arrival. It usually takes 3-4 days for cars to be unloaded and cleared by UK customs. (10). The car is sent from Southampton to our UK agents premises in Canterbury aboard a car transporter. Upon arrival there, it is SVA converted, derestricted, SVA tested & MOTd (If applicable). All minor cosmetic work required (e.g. bumper scratches) is carried out. The car is fully valetted just before you collect it. (11). The car comes with 6 months road tax and is fully registered in your name as the first UK keeper. If you have a suitable private number plate youd like to go on the car, we can also arrange this, provided you have a DVLA retention certificate. N.B.
