2 FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK I am happy to welcome your rm's association with DJS Racing. They are a team comprising of budding engineers from various branches of engineering. This team represents DJ Sanghvi College of Engineering as well as India at Formula Student competitions happening worldwide. After a successful last season, they are con dent of surpassing their achievements and raise the bar higher. 3 About Formula SAE: Formula Student is an international Engineering design competition held by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). It is the world s largest student engineering design competition whereby university students design. manufacture, test and compete with a formula style racecar. The rst competition was started back in 1979.The goal is to develop and provide a platform for student engineers to experience, build, and learn, It offers a unique way to test student s theoretical knowledge in a practical context. Students gain and develop skills such as engineering, project management and team work. Judges, sent from the F1 and the automotive industry, are judging the technical performance of the racing cars in the dynamic contest. Formula SAE promotes careers and excellence in engineering as it encompasses all aspects of the automotive industry including research, design, manufacturing, testing, developing, marketing, management and nances. The Programme A high-performance engineering project that is extremely valued by universities and usually forms part of a degree-level project. Viewed by the motorsport industry as the standard for engineering graduates to meet, transitioning them from university to the workplace. The kite-mark for real-world engineering experience. 4 DJS Racing DJS Racing started back in 2012 with a team of few passionate engineering students coming together to create a racecar with the limited resources they had access to, since then we have grown leaps and bounds. 01, our rst car participated in Formula Student Germany 2014, and despite it being our debut season the team members displayed exceptional skills in understanding the concept behind developing a race car. 02, our second vehicle, which was built by team of 50 members participated in Formula Student India 2016 which was held at Buddh International Circuit. The team stood 6th amongst 50 participating teams from all over the country. Our car was exceptionally a well designed car and was acclaimed by the judges who saw a lot of potential and promise in us. 03,With a burning desire to perform and experience of the previous season our team of budding engineers designed the ultimate racing vehicle named DJSR03. The designed car was tested to its full capacity and was made race ready. DJSR03 performed extremely well in the Formula Bharat 2017 and was placed 1st in the design event and 6th overall on a national level. The team is all set for FSG 2017 which is held at Hockenheim, Germany. Our mission Is to excite and encourage young people to take up a career in engineering. It seeks to challenge university students to conceive, design, build, cost, present and compete as a team with a small single-seat racing car in a series of static and dynamic competitions. Opportunity The format of the event is such that it provides an ideal opportunity for the students to demonstrate and improve their capabilities to deliver a complex and integrated product in the demanding environment of a motorsport competition Learning As a student, taking part in Formula Student gives you the chance to demonstrate your technical, engineering design, and manufacturing skills. You will also learn important lessons on team working, time management, project management, budgeting and presentation: all things that any prospective employer will be looking for. 5 01 DJS Racing proudly unveiled its rst prototype, DJSR 01 on 6th July, Built around the Royal En eld 500cc engine, the concept behind designing this prototype was a basic design, but meeting the international standards of quality engineering. We are proud to claim that is exactly what rolled out of our workshop. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS : Weight with 68Kg driver (Fr)109 Weight with 68Kg driver (Rr) 201 Tyres (Fr/Rr) 20.5x70 R13, Hoosier R25B Max power design (rpm) 4500 Max torque design (rpm) 5000 Brake system 4-Disk system Wilwood 4-piston calipers FORMULA STUDENT GERMANY , being our very rst car was well received by the judges, scrutineers and competitors alike. It was one of the fastest cars to complete the scrutineering event. The event highlight for DJS Racing was being placed a good 24th in Business Plan Presentation, rst among all Asian teams at the competition. 01, however, could not run in the dynamic events due to unexpected, last minute complications in the electrical components of the car. The team, nevertheless was applauded for their exceptional rst year effort and unof cially dubbed the best debut team of the event.

6 02 Over a year's designing, analyzing, fabricating and testing of all components culminated in 02 - a very compact car equipped with KTM 390cc engine and weighing just under 200 kg. We effectively combined new age manufacturing techniques like rapid prototyping with traditional techniques like CNC machining to fabricate our components. Electronics : Performance Electronics PE3 ECU Total Weight :199.5 kg FSI 2016 With better team management and ef ciency 02 achieved a 30% weight reduction over 01, the judges were impressed by our design methodology and well packed car. Our suspension, powertrain design and choice of engine stood in good stead. Achievements at FSI 2016: 1st in Quali cation Quiz 2nd in Cost Event 4th in Design Event 6th Overall among 50 teams The judges saw great potential in us, were impressed that we performed better than most experienced teams. This season we have set our aims higher.
