2 Dear Sponsorship Partner, Thank you for taking an interest in McGill Formula Electric. Each year, we design, build and race an electric formula SAE car at competitions against over 60 other universities from around the world. This project gives our members a great opportunity to apply principles learned in the classroom to a real life scenario, providing them with the practical engineering and project management experiences that will greatly benefit them in their future careers. These is an extracurricular project and students do not receive credit for participating. Pure passion for learning, engineering and innovation drives each team member to dedicate countless hours of hard work to building the best electric vehicles. In recent years, McGill Formula Electric has made great progress, emerging as a world class contender in Formula SAE Electric, finishing in the top 4 for the past three years and with a 2nd and 4th place finish at Formula North and SAE electric respectively during the season. However, our achievements would not have been possible without the help of our sponsors. Any form of support is extremely valuable for our project. Many sponsors donate time, materials, or components, as well as cash. These contributions are used to facilitate design, construction, and testing of our prototypes, which allows our team to continuously push and expand our knowledge and capabilities. In turn, we are loyal to our sponsors and give them back as much as we can. In the following pages you will find information regarding our team structure, budget, sponsorship levels and benefits as well as a brief description of what McGill Formula Electric has in store for the upcoming year. 3 Our Team McGill Formula Electric is composed of undergraduate students dedicated to learning about alternative means of transportation. This year, the team is excited to be developing it s fourth 100% electric race car. This team traces its roots to the Formula Hybrid competition and the Clean Snowmobile Challenge, both events that McGill teams have won multiple times. As one of the first teams in North America to develop electric vehicles, the team has strong base of knowledge from which to build, something that is passed on every year. Over the past year, our team has greatly evolved and has over 20 core members. For 2016, we ve recruited over 60 additional members who are joining the team and starting the learning process. Those students will be our senior members in the years to come. An important component of the success of our team, is its multi-disciplinary nature. We have students from all disciplines of engineering, science, arts, and management.

4 Our Mission Our Mission We as a team are united not only by our knowledge of cutting-edge technology but also have a strong desire to make an impact. The overarching passion that drives our team can be summed up in three goals: 1. Personal learning, growth and innovation McGill Formula Electric and its sister design teams are a place where students of multiple disciplines acquire and refine the hard and soft skills needed to deliver today s green transportation technology. Graduate students from our team possess good project management and communication abilities, which help them play important roles in the industry. 2. Team Success Our team s predecessors consistently finished in the top 10 at International Competition, including two 1st-place finishes; we aim to continue this tradition of success at the Formula Electric competition. However, trophies are not the only measure of success; we hold ourselves to a very high standard and take pride and enjoyment in the quality, efficiency and performance of our electric vehicles. 3. Sharing Green Technology with the World The iron ring worn by Canadian engineers reminds us of our responsibility to be a positive force within society. At McGill Formula Electric, we take this to include our mission to understand, develop and implement the latest in green technology, as well as promoting it within our local and global communities. We aim to be living proof that sustainable technologies are not only dependable and effective, but extremely powerful, fun and simply awesome.

5 Vision The team is very excited to be developing its fastest, most powerful and most efficient electric vehicle ever. This prototype is being engineered to be an attention grabber. By focusing our efforts on the full potential of electric system, we plan to design and manufacture a high performance and a highly efficient car that will able to match or outcompete its gas-fueled equivalents. We are confidant that with the support of our sponsors, we can achieve each of the ambitious goals we have set. 6 The Competitions Nothing drives innovation more than a little friendly competition. Hosted by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the competitions are great opportunity to meet students from other universities and to network with leaders in of the auto industry. This year the team is planning to attend 2 competitions with the Electric Formula car. Our car is designed to score maximum points in all the competition events: Dynamic Events: Acceleration : A 75m sprint of the car in a straight line. Skidpad : A test of lateral acceleration capability in which the car drives around a circular track. Autocross : A single-lap time trial of the car around a complex circuit. Endurance : A 22-km race utilizing all the battery s energy. This serves as the main event and a majority of the competition points. Energy Efficiency: An evaluation of our system s efficiency following the endurance event. Static Events: Design : A technical presentation where the team must convince the judges that their design is the best-suited for the competition, through the use of theoretical analysis and data acquisition. Cost : The team prepares and is judged on a cost report that standardizes the cost of manufacturing the entire car. Business : The team presents a business plan to convince the judges that an investment in massproducing their car is both a feasible and profitable venture. Technical Inspection: The team is evaluated on their preparedness for the competition as well as compliance with the rules. Safety of the car is ensured prior to any dynamic events.

7 The Events Our electric formula car receives a significant amount of exposure. As high performance cutting edge technology our vehicle stands out at each event we attend. This year, the team has really increased its marketing efforts, pushing to get as much exposure as possible. In previous years, over 200,000 people came into direct contact with our vehicles on a yearly basis. Our vehicles are already scheduled to attend the following events with several more expected to arise throughout the year. 8 Sponsorship McGill Formula Electric firmly believes in fostering strong partnerships with its sponsors, who are instrumental in helping us turn our vision into reality. Projected Budget Building an electric race car is an expensive endeavour. Contrary to what one may expect, production costs account for only half of our expenses every year; the other half goes to often forgotten but equally important necessities. To meet our objectives, we aim to raise $30,000 throughout the year. Sponsorship Structure The table below outlines the different sponsorship levels and their respective benefits. They are designed with flexibility in mind to best accommodate the promotion of your business and your products. All material, equipment and machining contributions or rebates granted to McGill Formula Electric will be counted as equivalent monetary sponsorships.
