8 Hypothesis & Goal Imagine that P. borealis larvae transport by currents and following sedimentation is critical for the phenomena that we ve obtained regarding CPUE changing at 2 different subzones, where fisheries press is equal Testify simultaneous or with time lag CPUE variation and changing oceanographical conditions at Primorie (Primorskoe (Srenk s or Liman) Current) area and Sakhalin (West-Sakhalin and Tsushima Currents) area as possible P.borealis redistribution cause in the first qualitative sight

20 Conclusions I Oceanographical conditions in the upper 200 m layer have remarkable changing coincide with opposite P. borealis CPUE dynamics in the West Sakhalin and Primorie fisheries zones, especially after 2002 Geostrophic circulation in the southern part of Tartar Strait near Sakhalin twice was outer regarding upper m layer in 1996 and 1998 during observation period No significant trend in the layer temperature data for the 200 m surface below. Meanwhile, clear salinity decreasing is obtained near Sakhalin in order of 0.1 PSU for the period , when P.borealis redistribution is obtained. It s mean possible gradual weakness of the Tsushima subtropical current near Sakhalin Tartar strait E-W circulation index has trend which differs in the south and northern parts, where E component had negative and clearly positive trend respectively

21 Conclusions II Submooring Kiya-North confirmed East, North and Downwelling components at deepest part of Tartar Strait during observation period detected by T/P data early, but E component became more weaker in recent years due supposed A-circulation moving in the west direction in the deepest part of Tartar Strait On the contrary East component is growing in the northern Tartar Strait area according CTD meridian line observations Currents reformation (or perestroika) is very possible reason of the redistribution of the P. borealis in the Tartar Strait, Sea of Japan because few months plankton stage in spring The cause of the currents change in Tartar Strait deepest part, Sea of Japan is still unclear
