2 2 From humble beginnings to a nationally and internationally recognized brand When I was a kid, my parents owned a small gas station in Emery, South Dakota (population 384!) where we resided in one half of the building. It was there, learning from my father's love for cars and motorcycles, that my passion for all things motorized began. I have fond childhood memories of pedal bikes, jump ramps, and of course my Honda 50 that I used to charge the neighbor kids to ride so I could buy comic books and bubblegum. Klock Werks built this bobber for the cover of the Drag Specialties Fatbook and parts 2006 line was accepted by Drag. 3 That passion lead me to my first FXR Project in 1988, and then to my first Kustom in 1990 that won several awards. John Quigley Patton let me start Klock Werks officially in his home garage in the early 1990's, and in 1996 he helped me finish a turbo-charged bagger for my dad. Klock Werks first employee, Dan Cheeseman, who is now our C.O.O., was hired and Klock Werks set out to build custom bikes and do service work. We had received a feature in Hot Bike Magazine by 2001, and our first cover the next year. It was the beginning of countless magazine feature plaques that adorn the walls of Klock Werks' shop today. By 2003 we were spotted by Discovery Channel and asked to do a Biker Build Off series show, and we turned it down. We weren't ready for what that may bring. Soon we moved to a bigger shop, and Joe Mielke and Laura had joined our team. When asked to do a Build Off again in 2006, we felt more ready to accept, and said yes. We had a small parts offering at that time, and had just been accepted by Drag Specialties, which was a huge milestone. We won the Build Off with a bagger! Not three weeks later, we found ourselves on the starting line of the Bonneville Salt Flats with our Discovery Channel Build Off Winning Bagger, and the rest, as they say, is history. Our original, patented, Flare Windshield was born from racing that year, we received national recognition, and our company began to grow. As I write this today, Klock Werks has tripled its employees, increased our Klock Werks Brand line of parts, and we ve been blessed with many bike features in national and international magazines. Our team has set multiple national land speed records, and made history, on the Bonneville Salt Flats, received awards, recognition, and attention that I could have never dreamed of. When I reflect however, it s really not about the accomplishments as much as what we ve learned along the way. I will never forget our humble beginnings and all the people that had faith in me. True to our small town upbringing, we are committed to caring for our customers and providing parts we are proud of as a team. We utilize technology such as CAD programs and rapid prototype machines to ensure accurate fitment and to get our products to market faster. We wind tunnel test, use computer simulations, and perform real world testing by riding and using our products on our own bikes. Klock Werks parts fit, right out of the box, and are easy to install. FABRICATION & DESIGN We utilize technology such as SolidWorks CAD programs and Stratasys rapid prototype machines to ensure accurate fitment and to get our products to market faster. SHEETMETAL Our sheetmetal is stamped from real steel with precision deep-draw stamping technology that ensures a consistent flawless finish, minimizing bodywork. Why E-Coat (Electrocoating)? At Klock Werks we go the extra mile to have all of our sheet metal products E-coated. This process prevents rust and corrosion from forming between the point of manufacture and the application of a top coat. That means a painter can spray about 2 coats of fill primer on these parts and then paint. No need for hours of body work to get them looking nice. Metal products that use this E-coat process with a powder or wet paint top coat are significantly more corrosion-resistant than products using other processes. The bottom line is added value for you our customers. 15
