Jaguar Clubs of North America recently selected Jaguar Land Rover of Colorado Springs as the recipient of the 2011 Outstanding Dealer Award. JCSC Vice President Larenda Hershey and RMJC Past President Cyndi Mumm presented Thom Buckley, JLRCS President and General Manager, with the plaque at the club s monthly meeting. Each year, the JCNA Board of Directors selects the award winner from club nominations. Submissions are judged on the level of dealership support provided to local clubs and their members. 3 March JCSC meeting (continued) Thom Buckley and Jaguar Land Rover Colorado Springs have always had a close association with the. Thom is a permanent member on the Board of Directors where he serves as Membership Coordinator. The dealership hosts club meetings and special events to include car care clinics, parties and the annual Pikes Peak Concours d Elegance. Additionally, JLRCS pays the first year of club membership for all new Jaguar owners and provides all memebers with a discount for car sales, service and parts. World Class dealership support such as that provided by JLRCS enables local clubs to grow and flourish and assists in preserving the heritage of the Jaguar marque. Tuesday. On March 6, Larenda notified the JCSC that she had been diagnosed with colon cancer and would be hospitalized immediately for surgery. In Larenda s typical style, she was handling Concours business in the same as her medical announcement. Less than two weeks after her surgery, she s still on the job and looking great! We are all so very thankful. 3

You all helped lift my spirits & brighten my hospital room so much. Spring Cleaning The is going to defy Mother Nature again this year and hold the annual JCSC Spring Cleaning event on Saturday, March 31 at Jaguar Colorado Springs. The Meguiar s Car Care representative will be in attendance to demonstrate their line of fine car care products. The event will begin at 10:00 A.M. however the wash bay will be opened at 9:00 A.M. for those wishing to erase any last traces of Mr.Winter. Following this decadent exhibition of our defiance of the elements, we will relocate to Estela s restaurant on 8th Street for food and drinks to celebrate our momentary victory! 5 Sports Car Magazine on a Flashdrive! Sports Car Scan accomplished the monumental task of scanning the magazine Sports Car (SCCA publication) from 1944 through The magazines have been scanned in a high resolution (300 dpi), color PDF format and run through an OCR (optical character recognition) program which makes them completely searchable. Every issue has been scanned from 1944 through 1970 the Golden Age of Auto Racing. Issues include national/local race reports, entry lists, race schedules, photos, ads and feature articles Everything is copied to a mid-sized USB flashdrive (8GB, PC and Apple compatible) and organized by year and month. This format allows for ease of use and portability. Based on my own knowledge and others who hold high esteem in the industry, the fact this in an entire set and scanned is very desirable and coveted. There is an exclusive licensing and distribution agreement in place with the Sports Car Club of America so there are no copyright violations. 6 Here are the details of Stage 2 of Tom Miller s performance upgrade to his 2007 Jaguar XK-R! Stage 2 - Implementation, Catalytic Converters and Cat Back Exhaust System The new catalytic converters and cat back exhaust system were ordered on August 9, The best news was that the distributor had two sets of each on the shelf and they would not have to be manufactured in England and sent to the U.S. which would have taken six to eight weeks. These two sets had been tagged for potential use by other customers, but since we came with cash in hand we got one of the sets. Concours Cars called when the exhaust system arrived and the work was scheduled at 9 am on August 17, Since I told you the best news, naturally it s now time for the not so best news. The exhaust system was actually there, but the Cats were not. They had run out of all available Cats in the USA and the next production run in England wasn t scheduled until September. Ship date estimated to be around the third week in September. You can be assured of one thing, however, if there is a way to solve the problem, these are the guys you want to be working on it. Absolutely relentless! It was decided to proceed with the exhaust system installation anyway. The performance of the car could be improved at least somewhat in the interim and allow the car to exhale a little easier. This system upgrade when completed was to have an impact on performance and 25 BHP or more was predicted. A separate dyno run wasn t scheduled at this time since the ECU tune was going to be accomplished almost immediately following completion of the exhaust system and Cats. Once again Jason proved his skills are boundless and the exhaust system installation went without a hitch. Jason and I took the car out for a test drive to make sure everything worked as advertised and there were no rattles or other issues. The change in exhaust sound was as predicted, deeper, throatier, and noticeably louder. I will have to adjust my driving style somewhat. I used to get on it pretty aggressively so that the baffles in the exhaust system would open and give a louder, more aggressive sound. With the new exhaust, that isn t necessary at all. I can now accelerate at a more modest rate and still have an aggressive sound, but not offensive. I m hoping that will enable me to actually end up with better gas mileage figures (not). But when you really want to send a message floor it and the Black Cat turns into the beast it is with a frightening GROWL worthy of its racing heritage and jungle roots! I will be coordinating the date with Mike at Eurotoys for his trip to Colorado Springs to do the ECU tune after the Cats arrive and are installed. 6

7 Here are the before and after pictures of the Cat-Back Exhaust system. Note: Compare the before and after pictures of the right rear tire that s what happens when you find out how to turn off the DSC system! Before: After Well, it s been a long story with regard to getting the Cats. The wires kept getting crossed on the order somewhere between here, the U.S. distributer, and Milltek in England. To make a long story short, after numerous attempts to get them to Concours, they finally arrived on the 23 rd of November (Brett and Mark both let me know that it had finally happened, and Brett even sent a photo to allay any fears I might have that something else might have gone awry). We scheduled the installation for the 28 th and bright and early on that Monday morning I was at Concours Cars to have this long delayed piece of the project accomplished. The installation was flawless. Jason performed his usual magic yet again, and the Cats were installed within two and one-half hours from the time I arrived and that included the cool off time. The fitment was perfect and when the car was started, there was no Check Engine Light and no rattles at all. Jason and I took it for a test drive and the sound was awesome. It was only slightly louder than before the Cats were installed, but perhaps just a little deeper. The most notable change was when under full throttle, it sounded like an ANGRY Jungle Cat. The message now is not only that it is a beast but that it s a really mad beast and you d better not mess with it! 7
