1 Number: CSP SB Subject: South Pacific X15 Cummins Integrated Power calibration release Product Affected: On Highway ISXe5, X15e5 Release Date: 26/09/2018 Description: The purpose of this is to ensure all repair locations are aware of the release of the X15e5 Cummins Integrated Power calibration, the required application guidelines, transmission specifications and INSITE Features & Parameter settings relevant to the integrated powertrain functionality. Cummins Integrated Power consists of a combination of fuel economy and performance optimized vehicle hardware, engine calibration and Eaton optimized shift calibration. This combination is optimized to operate vehicles in a fuel-efficient manner, while maintaining the desired level of productivity and performance in the intended application profile. Application guidelines must be strictly followed for the use of Cummins Integrated Power. A mass above the recommended GCM may result in performance and fuel economy complaints. Table 1 below lists X15e5 engine and transmission shift calibrations applicable for the Cummins Integrated Power. 2 Table 2 Engine requirement Model: X15e5 engine only Engine calibration requirement Following ECM code must be used for Cummins Integrated Power ECM codes: DS10194 ADEPT down-speed cal DS10193 NON-ADEPT down-speed cal (Always use the latest revision of the calibration) Rear Axle ratio and tire size The combination of tire size and RAR must be selected in such a way that engine cruise 100kmph must be between 1350rpm and 1490rpm. Examples: 3.73 and 315 revs/kms 3.58 and 330 revs/kms 3.91 and 315 revs/kms Special care must be taken to avoid incorrect combination of tire size and diff ratio to prevent engine cruise speed outside this at top gear. Transmission requirement Type: Eaton AMT Model: FO-22E318B-MXP / (subjected to conditions FO-20E318B-MXP) S/W version: or later Shift cal: refer table 1 Transmission grade sensor calibration: always ensure that the transmission grade sensor is calibrated and on level ground. 3 22 series transmission FO-22E318B-MXP) is mandatory for Cummins Integrated Power applications. However, in limited cases for in-service vehicle with existing 20 series transmission (FO- 20E318B-MXP) can be utilized for in-service vehicle upfits provided that Powertrain Protection feature is enabled per as shown below in figure 1. Figure 1: INSITE image of powertrain protection Use Service Ranger tool for transmission checks wherever applicable. Adaptive Cruise control requirement (if applicable) Cummins Integrated Power can be used with the Adaptive cruise system. However, non-bendix adaptive cruise systems are not certified with ADEPT and therefore ADEPT down-speed calibration should not be used with non-bendix adaptive cruise. ADR65 Road speed governing policy Full adherence to ADR65 policy must be observed while programming the vehicle and adjusting the INSITE features and parameters. INSITE tool requirement Always ensure INSITE is updated to the latest version before installing an ADEPT calibration. INLINE adapter 6 or later must be used for downloading a down-speed calibration. Always ensure the latest version of the INLINE firmware is used. Utilize INLINE Re-flash tool. INSITE features and parameter guidelines Refer to table 1 above for power train protection settings if applicable. 4 Critical Cummins Integrated Power settings are detailed in figure 2 below: Figure 2: INSITE features and parameters setting Transmission set-up Engine brake interaction (cruise control) Vehicle speed source Fan control switch Discuss the changes to the truck relating to the Cummins Integrated Power, down-speed engine calibration, transmission shift calibration and ADEPT with the owner/driver and confirm the cruise control speed settings, droop settings and engine brake interaction settings before proceeding. Road speed policy must be adhered to while making any adjustment to the speed and droop settings. Always take an image prior to the new calibration download to double check the critical features and parameters after calibration. After downloading the new calibration manually check and review section of features and parameters individually and confirm the settings are correct, readjust if required. For critical settings refer to Figure 2. Following parameters are permanently locked in in the calibration and are not adjustable by the Insite tool: Transmission type Fully automated without clutch pedal Vehicle Speed Sensor type Datalink-Tailshaft CSP SB Page 4 of 5 26 September 2018
