4 Engineering Our Drive Systems Segment employs more than 100 engineers worldwide engaged in design, applications development, product testing and validation. Recruited from top universities, they enter our engineering culture which encourages talented individuals to develop their skillsets and to become experts in diverse application areas from drive requirements for electric passenger vehicles to marine jack-up systems. We have been awarded hundreds of patents worldwide for advances such as carbon fiber synchronisers, electronic shifting controls and heat dissipation for complex mechanical assemblies. Our engineers are experts with drive systems, whether these are hydraulically, mechanically or electrically driven. Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) rely on our expertise to solve complex engineering challenges, adding value and competitive advantage to their latest equipment ideas. 4

6 Manufacturing We begin with gears. To develop systems that transfer power under demanding conditions, you need the capability and experience to produce world-class gears. We have been manufacturing gears of all types and sizes for more than 90 years spur, helical, bevel, Zerol and Hypoid. We produce gears from 12 mm diameters used in high performance automotive transmissions to two meter diameter gears which harness the power of wind turbines. Locations Our manufacturing plants are strategically located to serve our customers primary markets. So where they grow, we go. Our North American facility (Lafayette, Indiana) is one of the largest integrated gear manufacturing operations in the world, encompassing 14 acres of advanced machine tools within a single structure. Our manufacturing plants in Europe, India and China provide the global reach to support production where our clients need us. And in each location, we are investing millions to put in place new capabilities to support our customers growth plans. 6

Machining Processes Each manufacturing center is ISO certified and utilizes Statistical Process Controls (SPC) to produce world-class gears and drives to the highest AGMA, DIN and SAE specifications. A variety of processes are used to achieve the best results grinding, gashing, hobbing, shaping, shaving, broaching, milling or rolling. If required, we can make gear modifications down to 2/100 the diameter of a human hair. We have the machining capability to fulfill all our customers requirements for gears, shafts, splines, carriers and housings. Heat Treating Our regional manufacturing centers have internal capabilities for processes including tempering, carburising, nitriding, press quenching, induction hardening, thermal deburring, shot peening and crack detection. Internal capabilities in these areas ensure that features critical to performance are achieved under our direct control. The result: quiet running gears with exceptional wear properties and superior gear loading attributes. Assembly & Fabrication We build to customer demand limited edition transmissions for high performance supercars, hundreds of industrial cooling tower fan drives, thousands of electric golf cart transaxles and hundreds of thousands of synchronisers for agricultural tractors every year. Plus axles, powershift units, swing drives, wheel drives, custom gearboxes and more! Testing We have one of the largest installed bases of CMM gear checking equipment in the industry. Each manufacturing center has a fully equipped laboratory. We check the gears and dynamically test our assemblies to ensure performance requirements are met. 13 Energy We support global energy production by providing engineered solutions that enable energy creation and resource development. Our custom gears are used to generate power in wind turbines and drive frac pumps and transmissions during natural gas extraction. Our custom assemblies drive cutter heads, tracks and gathering arms in underground and surface mining operations. Our products are found in all premium brands of performance automobiles. Our innovative electric driveline solutions propel hybrid and fully electric commercial and passenger vehicles. 15 Rail / Transport We have broad capabilities to produce custom gears, shafts and components for the drive trains of vehicles designed for material transportation. Our facilities can both machine and provide the heat treatment for large components. This is a key reason why we have supply relationships in these markets which extend back 50 years.
