When employed as spray guards, traditional insulation concepts do not offer sufficient protection against pen etration by flammable fluids. Particularly the turbocharger running at full power can generate much more noise than may appear necessary to its user. For this reason, the current, globally valid, SOLAS guidelines stipulate that the surface temperature of components used on the high seas must not exceed 220 C.
