4 3 kva i P f n Hz Technical Data Braking resistors, BW Series 3 Technical Data 3.1 Braking resistors, BW Series General information UL and cul approval Type BW.. braking resistors are UL and cul approved in conjunction with MOVITRAC frequency inverters. SEW-EURODRIVE will provide a certificate on request. The BW..-T and BW..-P braking resistors have cruus approval independent of the MOVITRAC inverters PTC braking resistors Observe the following points for the PTC braking resistors: 4-quadrant operation is recommended for applications in which the level of regenerative energy is low. The resistor protects itself (reversible) against regenerative overload by changing abruptly to high resistance and no longer consuming any more energy. The inverter then switches off and signals a brake chopper fault (fault code 04). Current limit Ex e motor: The parameter group P56. Current Limitation Ex e Motor contains display and setting values that are specific to the "Current Limitation in the Ex e Motor on Inverter" function. The factory setting is indicated by bold. The factory settings apply for the delivery status. Frequencies lower than frequency A and higher than the rated motor frequency are permanently illegal. The following rules always apply: frequency A < frequency B < frequency C < rated motor frequency current limitation A < current limitation B < current limitation C 560 Current limit Ex-e motor Setting range: On / Off ON: Current limitation for Ex e motors active. On startup, the current limitation for Ex e motors is automatically activated for motors selected and approved for the operation in potentially explosive areas. 561 Frequency A Setting range: Hz Value for minimum operating frequency f A. The operation time with frequency A is 60 seconds, regardless of the current value. After this time, the inverter switches with "F110 Ex e protection" error message. 562 Current limit A Setting range: % Current limitation that is permitted with operating frequency f A. Master/slave function The master-slave function allows for implementing automatic functions such as speed synchronization. The RS- 485 interface or the system bus interface can be used as the communication link. P100 "Setpoint source" must then be set to master SBus or master RS485. The process output data PO1 PO3 (P870, P871, P872) are automatically set by the firmware. A programmable terminal function, "Slave free run." (P60_/P61_) makes it possible to separate the slave from the master setpoint of the master and switch it to a local control mode (like control source bipolar/fixed setpoint). For the slave, the process data P87x are automatically assigned as follows: PO1 = Control word 1 PA2 = Speed PO3 = IPOS PO data PI1 = Status word 1 PI2 = Speed PI3: IPOS PI data Master P750 Slave setpoint RS-485 / SBus Slave free-running Slave P751 Scaling slave setpoint P100 setpoint source P101 control source = Master SBus = Master RS-485 = Bipolar fixed setpoint / fixed setpoint If P100 = Master, Enable via master* ) = Input terminals P811 RS-485 Group address or P882 SBus Group address must be set to the same value in master and slave. For master/slave operation via RS-485 interface, set P811 RS-485 Group address to a value greater than 100. For operation via system bus (e.g. master/slave operation), the bus terminating resistors at the start and end of the system bus must be activated. Setpoint specified via RS-485: If the master specifies the setpoint for the slaves via RS-485, MOVITRAC B takes over the master function in the RS-485 interface after the parameter 750 has been set to "RS-485 speed". The communication with MotionStudio is aborted after MOVITRAC B is activated as RS-485 master, since it has only one RS-485 interface. The connection to MotionStudio can be re-established by setting the parameter 570 back to the value "master/ slave off" using a FBG11B keypad. After that, MotionStudio can be used again as master at the RS-485 interface. MotionStudio can also be connected via a UOH/DFxxxx fieldbus gateway. In this combination, MOVITRAC B can function as a master on the RS-485 interface. 6 Revision MOVITRAC B

7 Configuration Configuring the motors for explosion-proof areas 5 5 Configuration 5.1 Configuring the motors for explosion-proof areas You can only use the following explosion-proof AC motors from SEW-EURODRIVE with MOVITRAC B: edt71d4, edt80k4, edt80n4, edt90s4, edt90l4, edv100m4, edv100l4, edv112m4, edv132s4, edv132m4, edv132ml4, edv160m4, edv160l4, edv180m4, edv180l4 The motors listed above are started up via the selection of motor types in MOVITOOLS MotionStudio. MOVITRAC B function: A certified safety function is used in conjunction with temperature sensors in the motor to provide for a safe operation in potentially explosive areas. The current limitation function in MOVITRAC B prevents the activation of the safety device, i.e. the motor is protected against impermissible overheating ( following figure). 8 5 Configuration Configuring the motors for explosion-proof areas The characteristic curve of the current limitation is defined by operating points A, B and C. The following parameters are set during startup: Characteristic curve of the current limit Parameter Point A Point B Point C Frequency [Hz] P561 P563 P565 Current limitation in % of I N P562 P564 P566 Operation above the permitted permanent current range is permitted for 60 seconds. To prevent a sudden reduction of the current limitation and thus torque shocks, after about 50 seconds, the current is reduced to the permitted value along a ramp within 10 seconds. The current can again exceed the permitted range after a recovery time of 10 minutes. Operation below 5 Hz is permitted for 60 seconds. After this time has elapsed, the unit switches off with error F110 Ex e protection and performs a stop with inhibit as an error response. The binary inputs P62_ can be parameterized to "Ex e current limitation active". Precondition for the binary output being set ("1" signal): Current limit 1 exceeded Recovery time not elapsed yet Operation < 5 Hz longer than 60 seconds The current-time monitoring is reset by an error reset. The current-time monitoring is active both for supply system operation and DC 24 V backup mode. If the supply voltage is switched off without DC 24 V backup mode, the monitoring function is reset completely. 8 Revision MOVITRAC B

During startup, parameters P560 P566 are automatically activated for SEW motors selected and approved for Ex e operation. After startup, P560 can only be activated if a motor approved for Ex e operation has been started up beforehand. You can document the startup parameters and values with MOVITOOLS MotionStudio.
