A group of concerned residents from the Sausalito Yacht Club and I plus one representative from the Inn of the Above the Tides visited WETA s (Water Emergency Transportation Authority) South San Francisco Ferry Terminal yesterday morning. It is located near 911 Marina Blvd. in South San Francisco. We learned of the terminal from the GGBD s presentation of the proposed ferry landing in their September 12 th, 2017 public meeting with the City Council at the IDESST Hall. During the presentation, it was mentioned that this South San Francisco landing had hydraulically operated platforms similar to those being proposed for the Sausalito terminal. With both the Inn Above the Tides and the Sausalito Yacht Club being immediate neighbors of the proposed landing, representatives from those establishments wanted to get an idea of the noise levels that could be emanating from the proposed landing. The good news is that hydraulic noise levels at the South San Francisco landing seem to be within an acceptable range and shouldn t be obtrusive at the Sausalito landing site. What awestruck us all was the immense physical size (primarily height) and presence of the landing which is approximately 29% smaller than the terminal being proposed for Sausalito. I have made some notations regarding the differences in the attached photo log for your information. See table below for a summary of dimensions and areas. 2 Existing Sausalito Landing South San Francisco WETA Landing GGBD s proposed landing for Sausalito ,620 n/a , % , % I have written a letter to City Council members and the City Manager to encourage them to go see this facility first hand before they vote on the proposal in this coming Tuesday s meeting. Since the GGBD has refused to make a 3-D model of the facility which many of the residents requested during the public review and comment period which began back in early 2015, a visit to a similarly designed facility should help create a true appreciation of the significant size differential that our waterfront will be saddled with, should the proposed project move forward. If you have the time, I would strongly suggest that you also visit this landing if you have any doubts about the size and scale. As mentioned earlier, the area of the South San Francisco landing is 29% smaller than the landing being proposed for Sausalito. Lastly, please put Tuesday, September 26 th on your calendars for the next City Council meeting on this important topic so that you can express your views regarding it.
