The high price of energy, an increasingly widespread environmental awareness, new legislation on energy saving and, of course, the wish to have an independent energy source, all mean that there is an ever-growing number of homeowners who are looking to use solar energy for heating their domestic hot water (DHW). The use of hot water alone is responsible for one of the largest consumptions of household energy: a family of four people uses a daily average of around 150 litres of hot water at 45 C, which corresponds to an energy consumption of 6-8 kwh. The deployment of erbe eco solar systems can, on average, cater for 60% of the demand for hot water, saving energy and protecting the environment. The main control unit on the solar installation monitors the temperature on the collector. If is higher than the temperature in the accumulator, the heated transfer fluid is sent to a consumer point. Through the use of solar heat exchangers, heat is transferred in response to demand to the domestic hot water system, to the central heating or to heating the swimming pool. This system is ideal for installations exposed to periods of intense sunlight with no heat removal, as the collectors can withstand high temperatures. It consists of a flat copper absorber with selective coating, which can be manually turned in situ, facing the panel in the right direction to obtain the highest performance from each pipe. These calculations have been made using the following parameters: Calculation method: F-CHART (recommended by Spain s Technical Building Code - CTE) Orientation South (0º). Inclination = as per the local latitude. Water temperature 60ºC. Calculations in the Direct Flow system have been made on the basis of the number of collectors, on the other hand and with a view to tweaking the cost of the installations, for the Heat-Pipe system these are made on the basis of the number of pipes.
