The high price of energy, an increasingly widespread environmental awareness, new legislation on energy saving and, of course, the wish to have an independent energy source, all mean that there is an ever-growing number of homeowners who are looking to use solar energy for heating their domestic hot water (DHW). The use of hot water alone is responsible for one of the largest consumptions of household energy: a family of four people uses a daily average of around 150 litres of hot water at 45 C, which corresponds to an energy consumption of 6-8 kwh.
