3 CHARGE Develop a technical report on recommended testing protocols for measuring HTHP rheology of cement slurry (temperatures greater than 190F and/or pressures greater than atmospheric pressure) with the intention of the report serving as the basis for a NWI.

4 WG on HPHT RHEOLOGY, Minutes from 1/21/14 Meeting was called to order by Chairman Deryck Williams, who then opened by discussing the charge and reviewing it with the group The action items from last meeting were reviewed Rework a new slurry Rewrite round robin test procedure Waiting on mfg. to rework machines heat ramp Conduct another round robin Deryck then discussed the equipment reworks and the progress made by the manufacturers to meet the existing temperature control requirements. The chairman then mentioned that a new slurry has been designed and on it s in the last steps of development, specifically the low end Rheology. Deryck then gave the floor to Rick Lukay Rick Lukay presented data from 3 tests using the new slurry on 3 different machines. Some problems with the data were explained

5 1) No consistency on test schedule between labs. 2) One set of data was shifted up by 35 dial readings as it appeared that the unit had not been zeroed before the test. When this was done, the data appeared to fit the trends of the other two. The new test schedule was reviewed Start at atm. Temp and pressure Ramp to 250 o F and 10,000 psi over 60 min. while rotating at 200 RPM (341 S 1) Hold for an additional 30min Then standard sweep as per RP 10B 2 Craig Gardner asked about the scale of the graph Tom Griffith commented it was Dial Readings vs. rpm. Tom then asked about bob configuration which Rick confirmed it was R1B1. Rick stated that we had enough data and feedback on this slurry that we should move forward using this slurry with one basic test to get started. Craig Gardner asked about the choice of 250 o F in 60 minutes.

6 Deryck stated this was picked because the slurry was stable at that temperature and the existing machines worked at this schedule. Rick Lukay mentioned concerns on meeting pressure specs from consistometer as the viscometers have much smaller cells and will be difficult to control that tightly. Dave Stiles then asked if pressure was a big factor on the testing, i.e. difference at 1000 or 10000psi? Craig Gardner replied he has done testing that showed it makes a difference. Then he asked if there was settling witnessed. Rick replied that from what he had seen in the tests, settling was not observed and believed that this slurry is suitable for further testing. Deryck also confirmed no settling was observed while his lab was developing the slurry. Rick made comment about the slurry was not designed for proper down hole design, but to be easily used for the round robin testing. Andre Garnier asked why we just did not use mud. Rick replied that mud doesn t act like cement slurries and that we should move forward with testing this slurry.

7 Deryck Williams addressed the problems on temp/pressure ramps from manufacturers. It was generally felt that temperature control was achievable but pressure may be a challenge without adding expensive alternate pumps. He then asked about re writing spec to change pressure requirements, to which Rick replied it was still too early for that, There was an inquiry if all tests were done by the same technician Rick, Deryck and Paul Sonnier confirmed that all tests were done by 1 technician in each lab. The general agreement was to proceed with the round robin testing with the slurry designed. Deryck also announced that Rick Lukay will take over the lead of the committee as he will not be able to in the future. Rick Lukay moved to adjourn, seconded by Grafton Montgomery. Meeting was adjourned.

9 ACTION ITEMS FROM JAN Have Ronnie Williams at Chevron finish up the new test slurry. Conduct a round robin test using this slurry and the new test schedule. Have the manufacturers continue to improve the heat control of the equipment.

10 CURRENT STATUS Ronnie Williams has finished developing the new slurry design. Samples have been sent out to a large cross section of labs and machine types Test results are coming in and being analyzed.
