BUSINESS Call to order - R. Konnik. Introductions, Approval of Agenda - R. Konnik a. Roll Call - J. Cornelius 29 attendees; Quorum was met. b. Identification of Guests - R. Konnik c. Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes The minutes of meeting 5- were approved without objection. b. Status of Action Items There were no action items of which to report. c. Status of SC 2 Membership 205: Note Forms To Be Sent Out & Update Bio Book

Konnik stated that forms would be sent out to update the Biography book and also explain how to become a member of working groups and SC-2.In summary to become an SC-2 member one must be a member of a working group and then be recommended for SC-2. There may be exceptions for attendance and procedure for international candidates. d. Chairman s Report - R. Konnik a. Summary of SC 2 ADCOM Website is being up dated more often and is getting more attention. The Bio book information was given as example. The bio book will be updated and photos will be taken next meeting. Committee Procedures may also be posted on the site. It was noted that there is a factsheet on line John White elaborated the purpose it gives an overview of NPEC and was prepared to help international people understand the organization Discussion on terms John White will present Awards are being discussed. IEEE Awards look into It was discussed that a Possible 3 rd meeting annually could be held but it would not be a mandatory meeting. b. Summary of NPEC Meeting Bob Konnik presented a review and will put these overheads into the minutes or online. John white summarized the 60780/323 and mentioned that another joint Logo project is forthcoming and it would involve IEEE-344. He stated that the keys to the success of these joint projects are better communication and trust between IEC and IEEE. A question was asked about future standards and in response to the question it was stated that there will be other standards to follow. 2

3 c. Status of required project revisions R. Konnik attached a summary to the agenda and highlighted that more activity is being done IEEE 382 Ed Mohtashemi will give an update IEEE 650 PAR expires but extension requested IEEE 627 will meet on November 2 nd (today) or tomorrow (3 rd ). IEEE 572 will start PAR It was also mentioned that the working group activities need to stagger the progress and the balloting so not to have os many standards go through at all at once Suggestion and comment was made that the Next meeting will have 2 days of WG meetings. 4. Vice-Chairman s Report - E. Mohtashemi a. Meeting 6- TBD Ed Mohtashemi stated that the meeting will be in Seattle close to airport April Will send an early on invite to help get numbers established b. Meeting 6-2 TBD Looking for warm venue. 5. Previews a. IEEE 382 Valves E. Mohtashemi Ed gave presentation see attachment or website. Ed also solicited questions. B. 0:30 AM to Noon - Working Group and Liaison Reports a. SC 2.: IEEE Std 323 (Electric Equip EQ) J. White at the end of the 0 day recirc and will move forward I. PAR: P : Nuclear Power Plants - Instrumentation and control important to safety - Electrical equipment condition monitoring methods Part 6: Insulation Resistance P made progress and some typographical issues have been corrected. 3

4 Next is -6 for insulation resistance as condition monitoring (presentation was given by Kjell Spang Since ad-com has approved this will be on the ballot in NPEC As was mentioned earlier IEEE is moving forward with joint LOGO Kjell presented---ir See attachment or website for presentation. It was suggested to R. Konnik to have a meeting in Seattle as the first working group to start this work. A Straw man document has already begun/created as IEC must start with a starting point Primarily application is for cables and accessories II. IEC March 3-th Meeting in Korea: IEEE/IEC WG A request to determine who will be going to Korea IEC meeting was to be made. b. SC 2.2: IEEE Std. 334 (Motors) J. Dean / B. Newell No changes but there is an updated Reg. Guide. c. SC 2.3: IEEE Std. 382 (Valve Operators) E. Mohtashemi Nothing else other than the presentation comments asked for d. SC 2.4: IEEE Std. 383 (Cables) R. Konnik Issued and done. e. SC 2.5: IEEE Std. 344 (Seismic) J. Parello Presentation was given in Jim Parello s absence and the presentation will be attached to the minutes or the web. f. SC 2.6: C37.98 (Relays Seismic Qual) S. Channarasappa / M. Nemier Good for now no activity g. SC 2.0: IEEE 627 (Overall EQ) Rebecca Steinman Will go over the PAR h. SC 2.: IEEE Std. 572 (Connectors) F. Roy 4

5 Next meeting will start 572 back on docket i. SC 2.3: IEEE Std. 650 (Battery Chargers) D. Dellinger PAR extension in being created j. SC 2.4: IEEE Std. 649 (Motor Control Centers) R. Francis Not active good for now will start a PAR in a year k. SC 2.5: IEEE 682 (Fiber Optic Cable) J. Pirrong White paper is underway and a draft is being circulated. l. SC 2.6 EMI/EMC S. Channarasappa Will meet tomorrow. No par yet will be worked on in the Working Group. m. SC 2.7 Conformity Assessment Committee J. Cornelius John White summarized issued white paper. n. EPRI Liaison Report C. Abernathy EPRI update reorganizations are taking place. Presentation will be given for minutes/web o. NRC Liaison Report Shelia Ray Tom Koshy reported that not getting many applications. Several departments are merging within NRC. EQ inspections training programs will be restarting in December Training will be offered The NRC may be establishing coordinators to make better communication and Better coordination for stds. The NRC is eager to see the new IEEE 323 Reg guide.89 Still in review until 323 is standard. 383 can go ahead and endorse soon. 5

Terminology Consistency in IEEE Standards John White Gave a presentation about the standards that have issues with terms 6

7 The next steps: *Working groups to review recommendations and act *PARs should require terminology review *Terms either changed or created should be reviewed for proper usage within the context of the NPEC documents NPEC needs to review IEC/IEEE harmonization to determine how the terminology will be used prior to further harmonization efforts.
